Chapter 1: "Someone Has A New Fren"

The sun is shining and the birds are singing.

What a great and beautiful day!

Today was the day, the day that Carowinds finally opened for the summer! You were an adrenaline junkie and loved amusement parks.

Stretching, you sit up and put your glasses on. Grabbing your phone you scroll through the notifications.

*five missed calls from Clotpole*

Clotpole is the nickname you gave your best friend Ryder. Standing at 5 feet 9 inches with naturally curly blonde hair and ocean blue eyes Ryder was absolutely gorgeous. Not that you thought badly about yourself but you're not model material like Ryder. You stand right at 5 feet and 5 inches tall. Your brown, pin straight hair falls down to just above your gluteus maximus. With a mouth full of pearly whites and forest green eyes.

"Hey Siri, call Clotpole please" you say as you walk to your bathroom.

"Calling Clotpole"

You put it on speaker and begin to get ready.

"Coral Rose! I've called you like a billion times!" Ryder's voice blasted through the phone.

"I'm sorry! But I was getting my much needed beauty rest"

Ryder's laughs, "Shut up Coral, if you any hotter the solar system might began to orbit you"

" Aww Ryder, you are too sweet!"
"That's what I'm here for best freeennn"

"I'm going to be at your apartment in 30 minutes. You better be ready!"
"Yes ma'am!" You respond with chuckle.

"Later dollop head"
"Bye Clotpole"

You hang up and continue getting ready. Opening Pandora you begin to play your thumbprint radio. The first song that plays is "Angel With a Shotgun" by The Cab. You finish putting your contacts in and brushing your teeth. Humming along you pull on some jean shorts and teal, v-neck t-shirt. You grab a backpack from the closet and begin packing to the day.

Sunscreen? Check!
Towel? Check!
Flip flops? Check!
Sunglasses? Check!
Wallet? Check!

You were all ready! Just as you sit on the bed you hear a knock on the door.

"Coming!" You yell tossing your bag on your back. Opening the door you see Ryder standing there with a huge grin. "AHHH! I'm so excited!" She exclaimed gripping you in a hug. "Me too!!!" You squealed hugging her back. You've been best friends since the 3rd grade.

Stepping outside you lock your front door and jump into Ryder's car.

After what felt like eternity you finally reached Carowinds. There was a huge crowd but you didn't mind too much. Working your way throughout the park you finally get to ride your favorite ride, Afterburn. Walking up to the gate the ride attendant asked how many were riding. "Two!" You replied

"I'm sorry but you're going to have to sit in different rows unless you want to wait until the next cart comes back"

You and Ryder quickly share a glance.

"That's fine, we'll just ride in two different rows"

"Alrighty one of you got to row 1 and the other to row 5." He motioned y'all to the rows.

You quickly walked to the first row. In front of you was red headed man who looked to be about your age. You were so excited that you did a little happy dance. You hear someone laugh. Looking up you see that it was the red headed man.
Blushing you say "Sorry, this is my favorite ride and I've been waiting all day to ride it."

"No worries, it's my favorite ride too!" You smiled at him.

"My names Josh" he says sticking his hand out for you to shake it. You grab his hand and shake it. "I'm Coral"

"Nice to meet you Coral" Josh smiled at you.
An announcer began to speak "As you enter the rider please place all loose and valuable items in the bins and return to you seats." Everyone began boarding and placing their items on the side. "I'll put that over there for you since I'm on the edge."
"Thanks Josh!" You said handing him your backpack.

"Alright everyone, if you're ready to go let me hear you make some noise!" Everyone began yelling and whistling. The attendants buckled everyone in and you were ready. The ride began to take off, slowly ascending the slope before taking a sharp turn and dropping. You scream out in joy. "WOOOHOOO" you can hear Josh screaming too.

The ride came to a stop way too soon. "This ride never gets old!" You exclaim to Josh as you begin unbuckling. "I know! It's the best!"

"I hoped you enjoyed the ride and have a great day here at Carowinds" the announcer spoke as everyone was leaving. You saw Ryder and yelled out for her. She saw you stepped aside waiting for you to catch up.
"Did you enjoy it?!" You ask when you reach her. "Yes! I can see why this is your favorite!"

You began walking away when Josh ran up to you. "Hey! Ryder this is Josh, we sat together on the ride." Ryder waves. "nice to meet you"
"You too." Josh replied back smiling.

"So Coral I was wondering, I'm here alone and I was wondering if I could hang out with you today." Josh said fiddling with his fingers.

You were shocked that practically a stranger wanted to hang out but he seems nice enough.
"Yeah, I mean why not? Ryder is that cool with you?" You say looking over to Ryder for approval. "Sure, I don't have a problem with it"
"Yay! Thanks so much y'all!"

After walking the park all the day and riding nearly every ride the three of you decide to call it a night. "Thanks again for letting me tag along. I had so much fun!"
"I'm glad you asked! We really enjoyed hanging out with you" You both hug Josh and began parting ways.
"Wait! Coral, could I... could I get your number so we could maybe hang out again?" Josh asked scratching his head.

You were surprised. Today was fantastic and you would love to hangout with him again.

"Sure. Give me your phone so I can put it in."
He gave you his phone and you gave him yours.
"Thanks! I'll text you later, okay?"
"I look forward to it!"

You head your separate ways. Finally making it to the car Ryder starts driving back to your apartment. "Ooooh someone has a new fren" you laughed. "I guess I do. He was super nice and funny. I'm glad we ended up meeting and hanging out."

*Josh's P.O.V*

Wow, I've had more fun today than I've had in a long time.

I began calling Tyler.
"Hey Josh!" He exclaimed
"Hey Tyler!"
"What's up bro?"
"Oh I just left the amusement park."
"Did you have fun?"
"Yeah I did, lots of fun actually! I met this gorgeous girl and we hung out all day!"
"Woah! You mean not only did you just meet a girl but you also spent the day with her?" Tyler said surprised.
"Yeah, we even exchanged numbers to hang out later."
"I'm so happy for you!"
"But that's not the best part!"
"There's more?" Josh replied confused.
"I don't think she recognized me or even knew who I was!" I giddily said.
"Wow! That makes it better. Are you going to tell her?"
I pause before responding
"I don't know. I don't want her to use me for my fame or money. Maybe in the future if anything ever happens between us"
"I don't blame you. I'm glad Jenna and I were dating before our career took off. Hey, I have to hang up but we can talk later."
"By Tyler! Thanks for being my best friend and always knowing exactly what to say"
"Bye Josh! That's what I'm here for"
