Chapter 26

Nicki
"Meek hurry and just stop the car!" I yelled at him. I got out and ran to the door. I fondled with my keys and finally got the right one to open he door with.
"Mom!" I yelled for her so I would know where they were in the house. I could hear my baby's cries from upstairs. I walked upstairs as fast as I could. I went into his room and sat on his bed.
"M-momm-y it hurts. I don't fe-el good." He said shuddering in my arms as if he was cold.
"What hurts baby?" He didn't answer but continued crying.
"I'm cold." He said and I felt on his head, he was burning up.
"Nika, I checked his temperature a couple minutes ago. He's as 102.3" my eyes widened.
"I don't know what to do. Let's just go to the hospital." I said and I kissed Papi's forehead.
"You want something to eat or drink? You tired?" I asked him.
"No. My head just hurts so bad." He whined and I sighed looking at him in pain like that.
"Okay. We're going to the doctor okay." He nodded and I put on his joggers and gym shoes. I got his North face jacket and walked to the car.
"Meek we're going to the hospital." I said helping Papi into his car seat. I buckled his seatbelt and sat next to him. Meek drove off, and we were on our way to the hospital.

Meek
A nurse gave us a space with curtains for privacy, while we waited. Papi had to wait for a doctor because it was kind of late, the nurse just wanted to give him a space so he could lay down.
"How you feel now bull?" I asked him and he sighed.
"I feel sick." I rubbed his head gently.
"I know son, you'll get better. Here, try to eat a little and drink some water." I said passing him the saltines and cold mini bottle of water. Nicki looked at me tiredly and rubbed her belly.
"What's the matter baby?" I asked and she walked to me and leaned her head on my chest.
"I just want him to get better. He's my baby and I hate seeing him sick." She said and I nodded and rubbed her back.
"I know." I said before the doctor came in.
"Hello. What seems to be the problem?" He asked and Nicki spoke up.
"He has a fever of 102 last time we checked and he says he's cold. He won't eat either, he says he's not hungry." The doctor nodded and grabbed a thermometer.
"Yep. He definitely has the flu. What I need you to do is just keep a fan by him while he's sleeping and put a light blanket over him. He will have lack of appetite but make sure he has lots of liquids okay?" Nicki and I both nodded. After talking to us a bit more, we were free to go.
•••(At Home)•••
"Nicki come on now. Go to the room and go to sleep. He'll be fine, I got him." I said and and she nodded yawning, giving him a kiss on the forehead before leaving. I ended up staying in his room until three o'clock in the morning. He was fine and I thought he would be okay through the night so I left. I went to the master bedroom. I laid down and wrapped my arms around her front side, pulling her close to me. My hands rested on her belly. She turned to face me.
"How is he?" She whispered tiredly. I kissed her head.
"He's fine. He'll be okay through the night. Now go back to sleep." I said and rubbed her belly. She pecked my lips before pushing her head into the crook of my neck, falling asleep.
Nicki
I woke up feeling movements inside me. I smiled sitting up rubbing my belly. I loved this feeling but wanted it to stop, I just got up and I'm still tired. I kept on rubbing my stomach until they calmed down. I got up to go check on Papi. I peeked in his room he had the covers thrown off him and he looked hot. I turned the fan up on high. I sighed. I rubbed his hair.
"Good morning." I said and his eyes opened slowly. He looked so tired and I felt bad waking him up but he needed to take his medicine.
"Can I have a couple more minutes?" He asked and I gave him a gentle smile.
"I'm sorry baby. You have to take your medicine so you can feel better, then you can go back to sleep." I said and he nodded standing up walking with me to the kitchen. I took out the spoon and the bubble gum flavored medicine.
"It looks gross." He said and I looked at the thick pink liquid.
"It'll be quick. Hold your nose and throw it back okay?" He giggled and held his nose. I poured the medicine in the spoon. I poured the medicine into his mouth and he scrunched up his face holding it in his mouth.
"Swallow it so you can go back to sleep." I said and he did.
"Can I have some water. It taste so nasty." He said and I nodded getting a cold bottle of water out the fridge before pouring it in a short glass.
"Ok baby let's get you back to sleep okay." I said and he nodded and I walked to his room and he sat up on his bed. I gave him his water and he drunk a little bit before going back to sleep.
"I love you baby boy." I said before walking out. I went into my mothers room.
"Oh Onika. I have something to talk to you about." She said and I nodded and sat down.
"Mommy, the babies were moving this morning. It was such a beautiful feeling I absolutely loved it." I said and she smiled.
"That's great honey. That will happen more often further into your pregnancy. But what I wanted to tell you was that. I'm moving into a condo I found." I sighed and looked down.
"Right before the babies are born?" I asked and she shook her head.
"Don't think of it like that please. I planned on being here for at least a month to help you with the babies. But you're a family and having your own house is needed." She said and I nodded smiled. I looked behind me and saw Meek.
"Hey babe you're up? I asked getting up going over to him. He wrapped his arms around me from behind and kissed my cheek. He placed his hands on my belly and rubbed it gently.
"I wanted to talk to you about moving son." My mom said and Meek nodded.
"You found a house or..." Meek asked.
"I found a condo. I think a house would be too big for someone my age. What I found is a decent size. Three bedrooms two and a half baths and it's two stories. It's enough space for my grandchildren." She said and Meek nodded.
"Well let's go see it then we can look into everything."
