A Boys Life

Chapter 5:

I lied down and looked up at the brick ceiling. I then rubbed my forehead and drifted off into the peaceful state of mind we call sleep.
I woke up to Ceres rattling the gate. I sat up so quickly I almost hit my head on the bricks. I then pulled my phone out to find it dead.
"I'm so sorry just give me two minutes" I said.
"Fine, but hurry". She mumbled.
I got dressed and sprayed my mouth with toothpaste and threw on some dry deodorant. I unlocked the gate and looked at Ceres who looked embarrassed to be seen under the bridge.
"Ok I'm all ready to go".
I leaned in and kissed her on her cheek and she said,"hey not here I don't want to be seen here, you know that".
"Oh yeah I'm sorry". I say.
We walk to her smart car get in and ride silently to school as usual. Once we get out of the car she grabs my hand and we walk in as a couple. I see our group of friends and pull out my IPad.
"Hey Astro I got the arti-"
"Ezra dude shut up". He talks to Caia and I shut up because that's what I've always done when told to.
I put my back against the wall and slide down to the floor. I see Tay walk in with Luna and smile.
Ceres comes up next to me and whispers "I heard that Tay thinks she's so much better than everyone else, I guess that's why she doesn't wear make up just because she does think that". She laughs and I ball my fist up and frown.
"Babe it was a joke no need to get your undies in a wad".
"Ezra is dramatic Ceres I thought we already went over that". They laugh and go back to doing what they were doing. I watch Tay kiss Ely on the cheek and wonder why in the world she is with him. Then the bell rings and everyone scurries to there Morning class and I know that today will be a long day. I walk into Anatomy and slowly walk to my desk, I sit beside a guy named Kaz and a girl named Aya. I sit down and Kaz says,"how the hell did you do that last night?" I look over at him.
"What do you mean?" I ask
"He's talking about the eye thing you did to Ely". Aya says.
"Oh maybe you have me mistaken for someone else". I say.
Aya laughs,"well I think the video says otherwise".
"Show me the video". I demand
Aya pulls out her phone and pull up the video. I watch as I see me doing all the stunts I had pulled last night. The video ends and I sink down in my chair. "Look, if you don't want to talk about it that's cool but it's a pretty big deal". Kaz says. "Yeah you may want to get it checked out". Aya says.
"Idea" Kaz says,"how about we go and get you some sunglasses after school".
"Look it was a one time thing it's over and that's that".
Ms. Sierra soon walks in and everyone goes silent. She talks about the Anatomy of a human for 3 hours and then it's time for lunch. U walk into the cafeteria and see my friends with they nice lunch boxes and am instantly envious that I don't have enough money for a school lunch. I walk over and sit down right where I always do.
"Did you guys see Tays outfit today, she thinks she's better than everyone else by wearing jeans and a sweatshirt and it's 80 degrees outside".
I see Caia laugh and Astro shifts in his seat.
"I'd still do it with her". Ceres laughs and Caia slaps his shoulder. I say,"guys that was really har-"
"Ezra shut up we don't care". Ceres says.
She then whispers to Caia and Astro sits there and eats his 'instant lunch'. I then see Tay come in the cafeteria and Ceres sees her too. Tay sits down behind us at her table and loops her arm around Elys. Then someone at their table pulls out the video and they all watch it. Ely tries to make excuses but they just don't work. Then the most amazing thing happens. Tay pulls back her arm and punches Ely square in the nose. Everyone in the cafeteria turns to see what happened. Ely then Slaps Tay across the face and she holds her cheek. He then pushes her off her seat and stands over her. She then curls up and he gives her to hard kicks to the stomach before I get up and punch him in the face. He steps backwards and was about to hit me when one of his friends stopped him. The cafeteria goes silent.
"What the hell man you can't just hit a girl like that!" I say. He then says,"well she had no right to punch me". Tay then gets up and kicks him right in the stomach and he falls to the floor.
"I guess we are even".
"Wow I guess Ms. perfect finally stood up for herself". Ceres mumbles to Caia.
"You know what Ceres I had to deal with his abuse for years and today I finally did something about it so I'm tired of people bullying me and guess what your one of them. So if you have something to say, say it to my face". Tay says.
"You know what Tay, your some skanky whore who thinks she's so much better than everyone else, in reality your just
stupid and a little wannabe". I see Tay step back and a tear swells up in her eye.
"Ceres," I say,"you're a jerk you know, and I'm tired of you talking bad about Tay when she's done nothing to you. So stop being a two faced jerk and start treating people with no respect," I say and take a deep breath,"and I'm sorry if you don't want to date a guy who is poor like me but I don't like people who think they're better than everyone else so we are done". Ceres storms off and I see Caia follow her. Ely moans and Tay walks off.
"Not cool man". Astro says and walks off. I sit down at my table and everyone goes back to as if nothing happened and I know that I've lost the only friends I ever knew.
