I pulled my hair out of the collar of my jacket as I grabbed my purse. I was shaking. This just didn't happen...
He just wanted to get some gyms and PokéStops, but TJ wanted to hang out. The FilAm Flash. Wanted me. My brain could hardly comprehend what was happening.
I texted my mom after plugging in my backup battery, letting her know Rolland would be staying overnight with her and that I would get him in the morning. I knew she'd be okay with it, she loved keeping that booger of mine, and he loved the adventure of Gramma's house.
My mom was pretty amazing. When I got pregnant, I thought she was going to flip shit on me, but she was so supportive through the whole thing. Now, she loved when I worked late or went on my Poké rounds because she got to keep him and he was her new favorite person.
Val had managed to get ketchup on her shirt as we were cleaning up and had been scrubbing at it under the sink. It was now soaked and see through. We were waiting by the snack bar when the boys came back.
Noam instantly noticed and smirked. "Didnae know we were having a wet t-shirt contest." His gaze flicked over to me. "You're next." That grin, it gave me shivers and definitely not the good kind.
I rolled my eyes and caught TJ's shy smile. "Let's just go...."
Val bit her lip. "One second." She jogged away with her wallet to the little hockey shop. Noam watched after her, then followed, TJ teasing him about having already scared her off.
I sat on the floor, playing my game. TJ was playing his. After about 10 minutes, he looked down at me and offered his hand. "They have to go through catering to leave. We may as well go wait there with chairs and other people."
I shrugged and took his hand as he pulled me to my feet. It took him a few seconds to let go and he motioned for me to follow. He held doors and curtains out of the way for me as we walked. He was so sweet that I almost forgot a few times he was famous. He was such a normal little dork. I use the word little loosely. I'm only 5'4" so he was still tall to me.
"So why wrestling?" I asked as we got back to where catering was set up. I quickly grabbed a seat before he could pull it out for me.
"I don't know. I was always into sports, did everything I could, but I just loved wrestling. I was 13 when I started looking at schools. WWE wouldn't take me, I was way too young. Started writing to any and every school I could find until a lucha school in LA took me. I just got obsessed... "
I smiled some. "That's dedication..."
He laughed and nodded. "Sure. That's what we'll call it. I can guarantee that is not how my mom saw it when I'd go to Mexico with Brian for the weekend."
I laughed with him as I saw Val coming towards us in a Hershey Bears jersey dress with Noam. She sat on the table. "Everything cleaned up?"
"Yep!" I nodded and smiled.
Noam kept watching her like he wanted to eat her.
"So!" she chirped. "Dinner or a bar?"
"Dinner," TJ and I said together.
She made a face. "Fine. You boys have a car or are we all squeezing in to the rainbow mobile?"
"We have a car," Noam said, "but we're going to have to leave right from the restaurant. So one of you should ride with me and the other with TJ."
