It was the start of the month in hospital. Leo was always awake and making jokes. He was his usual self and it was as if nothing had changed. Scar was sure they had diagnosed him wrong. She saw the same the Leo who she'd been with for months. The only difference was he was in a hospital gown with tubes in and out of him. She saw no pain in his eyes or in his face. He was happy Leo and if you looked at him or spent time with him you would think nothing was wrong with him. Even Lillian had said he was very happy and seemed alright, even though he was hurt. Lillian was amazed how full of life Leo was.
After a week in the hospital she noticed the pain behind Leo's eyes and saw the pain on his face. That's when she knew something was defiantly up, she saw his face scrunch up in pain sometimes and it killed her inside to see him hurting. Leo slept for long periods of time and when he was awake he always complained that he was tired. He had bags under his eyes and his skin was paling. Leo always loved being awake and up on his feet, he loved talking and just being up but now he just wanted to rest and be quiet. He just wanted everything to be peaceful and everyone to not be as loud. He was really tired and you could tell he was just by one look at his handsome face.
On the second week of being at the hospital Leo's doctor called Scarlett out to have a talk. He explained that Leo's condition was getting far worse and the surgery that they tried hadn't worked. He told Scar not to give up hope just yet. He told her that they would keep fighting as much as they could for as long as they could. If the doctors weren't giving up then that was a good sign because it meant there was more they could try. It gave her hope knowing she wasn't the only one holding on and still fighting for Leo.
Leo was sleeping a lot more now and Scar only saw him once a day if she was lucky. She notice how he always looked extremely tired and weak. Her heart was hurting because she saw how much pain he was actually in and it killed her. She wanted to help but there was nothing she could do. She felt totally and utterly useless and she didn't like it. Her friends had lost hope and she had told them to leave, so now it was just her and doctors fighting for him. Her and Leo always helped each other and it felt like she was hurting him not being able to do anything.
Three weeks of Leo being in hospital and the doctor pulled Scarlett out of the room to speak to her again. He said they couldn't fight it any longer and Leo's condition was getting worse and he hadn't improved at all. They assured Scar they would make Leo comfortable and they would help her with anything she needed. She told him she still had hope and she wouldn't give up. She was really annoyed and began shouting at the doctor for giving up on Leo. She told him she would fight for him till his last second and she wouldn't give up on him until his last breath and even then she'd still love him. Deep down Scar knew the doctors wouldn't give up without a fight and they'd been fighting for as long as they could.
At the end of three weeks Leo still hadn't woken up and she was worried she'd never see him again but she knew Leo was a fighter. She didn't know how much longer he would be able to physically fight. So she sat there doing what she did best, waiting. Her month consisted of waiting. Waiting for Leo to wake up and for her fall back into his arms and him to hold her. For him keep all his promises and for him to say goodbye for the last time.
