Chapter FIFTEEN

I glanced around the room, looking for Colin but he wasn't here. I excused myself from Victoria and Henry before I was climbing the stairs. I found Olivia in her room and was surprised when she wasn't alone.

Malia was perched on the bed, her smile was infectious with happiness as she joked and laughed with her cousin. Deciding not to interrupt them I started back down the hall when I heard voices coming from Colin's room.

"Via." He groaned and I could feel my heart being ripped from my chest. I knew that they weren't together, I knew that he's like her for a long time that it was only natural for them to move forward in their relationship.

Pressure was building up in my chest as pictures flashed through my mind. Close, to close. I ran down the stairs and outside without anyone noticing. Once I started running, I couldn't stop. Tears were flowing down my face and hiccups had started in my chest as I struggled to breath.

This was the worst pain I've ever been in and I've been through alot. The thought of them twisted together ripped through me and my knees buckled. I was far enough away from the house that I was confident no one could hear or see me with their heightened senses but I couldn't stop.

I pushed myself further and further. Finally I collapsed into a heap and buried my face into the crook of my arm. I'm pathetic. He's not mine, he never was and he was never going to be. This is overly dramatic for someone with a tiny crush on a boy.

But I could have pictured myself with him, that was the problem. That was why I was crying. For the future I craved only to watch as it slipped away, killing me.

I heard the rustle of leaves and the snapping of branches causing me to freeze. I'd forgotten all about him. I'd forgotten everything in my desperate attempt in leaving everything behind.

"Kat." His voice was soft, chilling me to the core as shivers were sent down my back. "Baby. Are you okay?"

I looked up at him under my lashes and he was smiling sweetly. "S-Shane." I whispered, my voice cracking.

"I'm here." He grabbed my upper arm and pulled me to my feet, less roughly than I would have thought. "It's going to be okay, Kat. I'm here now."

He began leading me into the woods and I found myself following after him. We were a few feet into the wooded area when my mind started shouting, or I started to hear it shouting, at me to get away from him. To run for help, to call my brother's and parents. To seek help.

"It's okay Kat, we're together again." He cooed with love in his voice. "I forgive you for running away from me. I love you baby."

I pushed him away from me and turned around and ran. His growl was vicious as he pounced, pushing me to the forest floor and knocking the breath out of me.

"No!" I shouted hoarsely as I tried to struggle free. I felt Shane's claws flex into my back as deep wounds could be felt, the rush of sudden warm liquid could be felt and I screamed in agony. "Help!"

He growled. "You're mine. You can't leave me Kat." He hissed, his human voice was rough as he switched back. "And if I can't have you, no one can."

My back ached in pain as his paws swiped at me again, he wasn't calm enough to take one form when he wanted to say so much to my face. To hurt me.

"Shane, please." I pleaded, and he growled. I felt him tug on my right leg his teeth sharp enough that I heard a crack and I screamed again. He broke my leg plus the pain in my back was off the charts and I began drifting in and out of consciousness.
