Legolas closed the door behind him and Thranduil turned to face his son.
"What did you want to discuss with me Legolas?"
"Ada." Said Legolas. "I ask you to listen to me and don't overreact."
Thranduil had never seen his son so nervous before, and nodded. The ice cold eyes almost burned Legolas.
"Under the journey we got attacked by mountain trolls. Aragorn got out alright, I...got badly injured...one of the trolls found one of my own daggers on my back."
At Thranduil's terrified and worried look he hastily added.
"We met ents who helped us find a village where we met a healer I own my life to.""How did it happen?" Thranduil asked, his throat suddenly feeling dry.
"I heard the footsteps, but we were too late."
He frowned, trying to take everything in. He could see on Legolas that it was not all, and immediately grew more uneasy.
"I...under the journey Aragorn and I...grew closer."
"Mani marte?" (what happened?)
Thranduil's face showed that he was patiently waiting for the rest, and Legolas took a deep breath."We kissed." He dropped the bomb.
"Amin hiraetha." (I'm sorry)Thranduil's eyes darkened visibly, but he stayed quiet. His lips were pressed in a thin line, and a frown was edged on his face. He was actually speechless.
"He is a Elandili Ada." (Half elf, father)
Thranduil signed deeply and closed his eyes, before he faced his son. His face was straight, but anger was seen in his sapphire eyes.
"Will you abandon your duties here for another century? Will you dwell in despair? What have we discussed Legolas?" He asked, a bit more sternly than needed.
Legolas was surprised, and actually did not know how to answer. When he finally got his senses back he replied.
"I...I don't...?"
Thranduil sighed.
"How are you going to solve all of the problems? Would Aragorn's people respect this? Would yours?"
Legolas pressed his lips together, feeling the panic rise in his throat. He did not want to lose his father or his lover.
"I just hope will all my heart they will accept it. I hope you will."Thranduil pretended not to hear him.
"How about Queen Arwén?"
Legolas nervously twiddled with his hair, no words being necessary. He felt awful for it, but did not know what to do about it. Arwén was a very good friend of his, and had been long before the journey began. Either way someone would get hurt, there was no avoiding this.
Thranduil frowned deeply, sensing Elrond's anger from the distance.
Legolas saw it, and continued to speak the keep the conversation going.
"I want to live one lifetime with him, filling it with more joy then all of the uncountable centuries I'll live. When he dies I will..""Legolas!" Thranduil finally interrupted him, making Legolas stop talking at once. The younger elf almost held his breath in fear.
"Mankoi lle uma tanya?" (Why did you do it?) The elven King spat out, more roughly than intended. Legolas did not flinch, knowing he would get that reaction eventually.
