It was a normal day in class 409. Ms. Selene was teaching her history class and her students listened carefully. Most of them anyways. In the third row second seat from the window sat Allen Clage, who was asleep. He always slept through Ms. Selene's history class, and for whatever reason she never seemed to mind.
Ms. Selene looked at the clock and sighed, time was running out. "Okay class, next week we're starting a new subject. We're going to start talking about Silo and it's history." The bell rang just as she finished and the kids rushed out to their next class.
Allen woke up with the bell as usual and began to take his leave. He stopped when he noticed a student packing up in the desk right next to him. That window seat was always empty and he was sure he'd never seen this guy. He had wavy light brown hair that curled at the ends and ocean blue eyes that sparkled in the light. His skin was pale, not as pale as a vampires, but still hauntingly pale. Allen noticed slits on the side of the boy's neck that stretched u=open and closed and how the other's skin was littered with scales few and far between.
The other must have felt the stare since he turned towards Allen and smiled. "Hello there, I'm Keith Merc! You?" He held out a hand that seemed slightly webbed for Allen to shake.
Allen was hesitant and could feel the usual distrust that came up when he was around mythics. He never understood why he disliked them, he just did. The only thing that unnerved him more was Keith's smile filled with sharp, pointy teeth. After a few moments lost in thought he reluctantly shook the hand. "I'm Allen, Allen Clage."
Keith paused for a moment, a look of disbelief on his face. Allen could see the recognition in his eyes. Most people would immediately distrust him but Keith just laughed. "Nice to meetcha Allen. Hopefully we have some classes together where your not asleep." He gave Allen a slap on the back before leaving for his next class.
Allen watched him go, he wasn't sure if Keith's friendly attitude was more of a reason to distrust him or not. Allen dropped the subject not wanting to overthink it and made his way to the door.
Ms. Selene had watched the interaction in wonder, Allen reacted surprisingly well. Not his usual glares and rude comments like he did with most other mythics. When he was at the door she waved him goodbye. "Have a nice weekend Allen!"
He only looked at her and nodded. "You too..." His voice betrayed any sincerity that statement may have had. With that he disappeared down the hall.
Everything worked in clockwork for Allen. Nothing ever seemed to change, ever since he was eleven he always had a routine. Keith was not part of his routine. He wasn't sure how much his routine would change if Keith would insist on being friendly. Hopefully not by much.
Allen arrived at room 419 with a small smile, he loved Chemistry class. Science had always been his favorite subject. Entering class he saw Keith once again, but sitting at the same lab bench as him. Allen had never had a bench partner in any of his science class, he always worked alone. He hadn't even known Keith for half an hour and already big changes were happening.
Allen liked having a routine, it gave him peace of mind. He gave Keith a look of amusement and the other waved happily at him. Allen had a good feeling he'd need a new routine.
'The universe was a vast ever expanding, never ending entity. In her vastness she was beautiful. That is why the sea fell in love with her. In his own vastness and mystery he felt empty and estranged. He felt as if she was the only one who exactly what he felt like. At night he reflected her stars in his eyes. He loved the way the moon she had given them pushed and pulled him. He could never reach her but she was always around him, around everybody. She had given him all he ever needed and wanted. He was content, until she fell in love.
She fell in love with somebody else, a mortal no less. He never knew what a broken heart was until that day. His tears made the oceans rise, tsunamis destroyed homes, the waters became a dangerous place.
One day a ship was leaving the port and the waters were as clear for once. The universe waved her lover goodbye, hoping to see him again. She never did.
Only then was the sea content once more.'
