Making his way over to his seat, Allen gave Keith a curt nod of acknowledgment. If he was going to spend the rest of the year with a somebody he didn't like he'd have to act nice. Besides, there was no telling what this guy could do.

Mr. Valentine, their Chemistry teacher, was trying to set up the smart board. He wanted to show the class a documentary but he was bad with technology, so the class was stuck waiting. They knew it'd be a while and the stubborn wizard always refused the help.

As this went on Allen busied himself with some doodling. A simple task turned increasingly difficult with Keith staring at him. "May I help you?" Conversing with this guy was probably the last thing on Allen's schedule but ignoring him didn't seem like an option either.

The class around them fell into hushed whisper, Mr. Valentine still blissfully unaware. The students ears were tuned onto Allen and Keith, hoping some drama would come out of it. That was about the only interesting thing that ever happened in this town, drama. They lived for it.

Keith only shook his head humming. "Not really, just curious..." His sentence trailed off but before Allen could question it Mr. Valentine was finished. He gave Allen a smile, the slits on his neck stretching as well.

The documentary took over the rest of class, and by the end Allen had already forgotten.

The rest of the day went on as usual. Allen discovered he had two other classes with Keith, luckily in those he didn't sit next to him. That didn't stop Keith from being chummy with him from across the room.

On his way towards the school gate he ran into Lonnie, his girlfriend. She was really excited about something. He had no idea what but it made him smile. He liked seeing her happy. "Hello  Lonnie-"

"Hello yourself!" she interrupted playfully. She jumped up and down in her excitement and hugged him, giving him a small peck on the cheek. "You wouldn't believe what just happened!" She was too excited she could barely speak, her minds was still racing. Before Allen could say ask her what she blurted it out. "I just got nominated as leader of the Tennis team!" She looked at Allen expectantly waiting for a response.

Allen wasn't all that surprised, everyone seemed to love Lonnie. "Congratulations..." He himself had no interest in sports and that just deflated his excitement even more. Whenever Lonnie talked about sports he could go on for hours about it. It was nice seeing her so passionate but he just couldn't connect to it. "Is there another nominee?"

Lonnie frowned at the underwhelming response. "Yeah... but she won't make it." She looked across the courtyard.

On the other side was a fancy looking girl. She had fluffy brown hair  that fell past her back. The mole under her sharp hazel eyes added to her beauty. She wore an orange dress shirt with a vest over it and her heels were accompanied with socks lined with lace.

It was Ophelia, the school's personal queen, and Lonnie's self proclaimed rival.

Ophelia stood under a tree next to Keith, they seemed to be having a very one sided argument. Ophelia doing the arguing and Keith just laughing. What Allen couldn't get over was the fact that they were both covered in glitter. Looking around a few other glitter covered students could be spotted.

Ophelia glanced out of the corner of her eye and glared at them. From day one he knew she hated him, he was the only one who could see past her facades after all.  Lonnie on the other hand was none the wiser and only saw Ophelia as competition.

Keith turned to see what Ophelia was looking at. Keith grinned and waved, "Hey Allen!"

Allen waved back warily. It really bothered him how friendly the new kid was being. They barely talked to each other but Keith acted like they'd been friends for a good while. Allen's natural distrust of mythics wasn't helping him either; he really wished he didn't have that.

He turned to Lonnie and gave her a kiss on the forehead. " Bye Lonnie, I've got to get home early today." Lonnie complained a bit but eventually let him go on his way.

As he arrived home he noticed the empty drive way. He sighed, his parents were probably on another business trip. They always left announced and could be gone for as long as a months at a time. They'd usually check in with a quick call, which only added salt to the wound. It wasn't like he was close with them, but now they were more distant than ever.

"Allen!" a familiar voice called out from across the street.

He looked up in shock and annoyance. It was Keith of all people, it was like this guy refused to leave him alone. Allen bristled as he Keith made his way across the street. He felt as if Keith was trying to ruin his life. Where else would Keith be popping up?!

Allen dreaded the words that came out of Keith's mouth, "Oh I had no idea we were neihbors!"

Keith laughed his usual golden laugh, and Allen... well he wanted to die right there and then.
