Chapter 1-Birthday Shopping

Taylor's P.O.V *Saturday Morning*

I slowly opened my eyes and stretched. I sat up and smiled as I just realized that summer is here. That means no more school. I'm so glad that I finished high school last week

I got off of the bed and walked to my bathroom attached to my room. I turned the shower and stripped my clothes off. I got in and started to wash my hair. I washed the rest of my body and turned off the shower. I wrapped a towel around my body and wrapped another around my hair. I walked back to my room and started to put on my outfit for day.

I was wearing some faded ripped jeans, a tank top, a grey long-sleeved shirt that says 'Thanks For Asking' in big, black letters, and blue Vans. I blow dried my hair and let my natural curls fall into place.As I finished, I opened the door to my bedroom, and walked downstairs. I walked into the kitchen and saw my mom reading her morning newspaper, eating a bowl of cereal.

"Hey mom" I said as I walked over to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Good morning,Taylor",my mom said as she put her newspaper down."Did you sleep well?",she asked.

"Good.I'm going to go shopping for some new clothes so I have something to wear for tomorrow",I said as I grabbed an apple and bit into it.

"Oh right.Tomorrow's your 18th birthday.Are you excited?"she asked me with a smile on her face.

"I guess so.I mean I'm turning 18, so who wouldn't be excited.

That's the only thing my parents or friends talk about since last week.I don't get the what the big deal is. I'm only turning 18.I'm about to be an adult.My parents think that once I turn 18, I'm no longer going to be that little I used to be. I'm still going to be their little girl, no matter how old I am. They have nothing to worry about.It's like they think they are gonna lose me.I went into the living room and sat on the couch.I turned on the TV and watched the family guy.As I was watching TV,I was texting my best friend Jessica.

Text Convo( J-Jessica T-Taylor)

T-Hey.Wanna go to the mall and help me pick an outfit for my birthday party tomorrow?

J-Sure.Besides,I need something to wear for your birthday party tomorrow.Are you excited for tomorrow 'cause I know I am

T-Lol.Pick me up in 10 minutes

J-Ok.Bye

T-Bye

I turned my phone off and continued to watch the family guy while waiting for Jessica to pick me. After a few minutes, the doorbell rang. I turned the TV off and walked to the front door.When I opened the front door,there stood my best friend Jessica.

Jessica has long, dirty blonde hair and green eyes.She's alethic and sometimes shy.She's wearing a pink and white striped shirt,skinny jeans,black converse,and a necklace that says 'Believe' in purple letters.

"Hey", I said as we hugged each other."Are you ready to go to the mall?" she asked as we both pulled out of the hug.

"Yeah.Bye mom.We're going to mall", I yelled as I closed the front door to my house. Me and Jessica made our to her car and got in.She started the car and drove off to the mall.

*At the Mall*

"So, what store should we go in first",I asked Jessica while we were walking around the mall.

"How about Forever 21?'

"Ok, let's go"

We started heading off to Forever 21.As soon as we got in,Jessica darted off to this strapless yellow dress and went to the dressing room and tried it on.I rolled my eyes and went to find a dress for tomorrow.I looked through the dresses until one really caught my eye.It was a strapless light blue dress.I took the dress and went to the dressing rooms.I close the curtain behind me and stripped my clothes and slipped into the dress.I stepped out the dressing room and showed Jessica.When I stepped out, her jaw dropped and her eyes widened.

"Is there some thing wrong",I asked her

"No. It's just that you look so beautiful in that dress",she said like she was speechless

"I could say the same thing about you and that dress you're wearing"

"So,is that the dress you're getting?",she asked

"Yes Let's get out of these dresses and pay for them",I said as we made our way back into the dressing rooms and changed back into our clothes.We payed for our clothes and went to the food court. We walked over to an empty table and sat down.

"Do you want to shop a little more?", Jessica asked.

"No.We should take a break.We've been walking all day.I think my feet need a break",I said while looking down at my phone.

"Yeah,you're right.We've have been walking all day. So, about your birth-...", she started to talked until I heard someone call my name.

"Taylor!"

I turned around to see who was calling my name.It was my friends Ashley, Trevor, Mike, and Carol.They started to walked over to the table me and Jessica were sitting at.

"Hey",I said

"What are you guys doing here?",Jessica asked.

"We're shopping because someone in this is having a very special birthday",said Ashley as she was jumping up and down.I laughed at what she was doing.She is always happy.There's not even one day I have seen her upset.

"You guys don't have to bring it up every time you see me.That's the only thing guys have ever talked since last week. It's not like it's a big deal.",I said annoyed.That's all they ever talk about.It's my fucking 18th birthday,for crying out loud.I don't get why they are so excited about my birthday.It's not like my birthday is very special.

"What do you mean it's not a big deal?You're turning 18.You're becoming an adult.I don't get why you're not that excited.",Mike said as he and the rest of them sat down.

"He's right.You should be excited",Trevor said.

"It's not that I'm not excited about my birthday,I am.I just don't like it when you guys talk about my birthday so much.It just annoy me sometimes.Everybody is making a big deal out of it like they expect something from me when I turn 18",I said while looking down at my fingers.I didn't want to look at them because they might think I hate them for talking about my birthday so much.

"We don't expect something from you,Taylor.We just want you to be happy.",Jessica says while rubbing my back.

"Thanks, you guys. By the way, where is Chase?"I said looking up from my fingers.

"He's at his house.He says that he has a massive headache so he couldn't come with us",Carol says while texting on her phone.

"Ok. Well,I should get home. It's starting to get let",I said while standing up and picking up my bag.

"Yeah. You're right",Ashley said.

We all said our goodbyes and we went our separate ways.Me and Jessica went to her car and drove back to my house.The whole car ride was silent.I was staring outside the window and I didn't realize we were at my house.

"Taylor? Taylor?!",Jessica yelled

"Huh? What?"

"We're here"

"Oh,ok.Well,I'll see you tomorrow.Bye"

"Bye"

I got out of the car and closed the door.I walked to the front door and unlocked it.When I walked in, the lights were off.Maybe mom went to bed early.I quietly went upstairs and went to my bedroom.I opened the and closed it behind me.I stripped off my clothes and put on a pajama shirt and some sweatpants.I hopped into my bed.I closed my eyes and hope tomorrow is going to be a good day.
