Whenever he was upset about something, usually his dad, I would drop everything I had planned, buy a load of junk food and we'd crash at my house as long as he wanted or he'd do that for me.
I pulled into a parking space at the City Shopping Complex and turned off the engine. 3, 2, 1. We opened the car doors and walked out in sync. We entered the store we needed and each grabbed a trolley, "You get the chips, I'll get candy and chocolate. We'll meet at the drinks in 3 minutes." He nodded as I hit the start button on my timer and we split up.
I grabbed 4 large slabs of our favourite chocolate and 8 packets of sweets, jelly beans, gummy bears, wine gums, mints, fruity chews, gummy worms, sour and fruity worms. Checking my time, I walked to the drinks where he stood, typing something on his phone. "What should we take today?" I asked, dividing his attention. He glanced at me before finishing his text and pocketing his phone. He ran his hand through his hair, "Sorry about that. Uhm..." he rubbed his eyes with his palms. "Vodka. Lots of it. Maybe cool drink as well," he suggested and proceeded to grab 2 litres of Fanta and coke as well. I went over to the liquor aisle and grabbed 6 bottles of Vodka and put them into my trolley.
"Good to go?" He nodded. We were currently in RP1, Ryan Phase 1. This is the worst phase. In this phase, he'd start to accept what had happened and you could usually tell by the faraway look in his eyes and also the way he was constantly trying to control his expressions, he'd look like he was about to tear up and then immediately cover it up with a stone cold facade. His response to anything in this phase would be a nod. He couldn't care less what you asked.

We proceeded to check out and walk to my car. "We'll pick my sister up and then head home."
He nodded. I unlocked the car, "Get in. I'll put this shit in the boot. He looked at me for a while, holding my gaze. He knew I was getting frustrated with him, I don't usually swear unless it has to do with anger and that sort of thing. He smiled apologetically and got into the car.

In silence, I picked my sister up and headed home. Considering I haven't spoken to Dan today, I'm surprised he hasn't tried to contact me today to ask me if I might've bit my tongue a little too hard when I was talking to Kimberly or some irrelevant shit like that. I don't care if he cares. Care equals to know a person and leave them in their darkest hour. Yes,I judge everyone based on my previous experiences. You can't expect me to still trust people and be easily befriended. Nah. Sorry.
"Hey Kendall, are y'all going to crash?" My sister whispered, wedging her head between my head and the driver's door. That being the first thing she said directly to me, greeting not included, I nodded. I'm generally stubborn and wasn't about to just speak to her.
"Look, I'm sorry about last night," she continued and I cut her off, "Don't worry about it," my hand visibly gripping the steering wheel tighter and Ryan glanced at me but I looked straight ahead.
"Why are you asking? Do you have some place else you'd rather be at?" I glanced at her through the mirror and seeing her nod, I signalled for her to go on, glancing at the road and back to her through the mirror.
"I have a date with Liam ton-"
"Ok." I said, maybe a little too fast because both Ryan and Paige were now staring at me, Paige's expression clearly dropped and Ryan looked concerned.
"Look, I can't stand this. Not anymore. We're both orphans living the same fucking sad life ok? So with all due respect, will you please swallow your shit for one day and treat me like your sister?" Her eyes were flaming mad when she finished her rant, her hazel ones replaced by a darker chocolate colour.
I looked over at Ryan but he looked away. I looked through the mirror again and offered her a small smile, silently avoiding a full blown argument by refusing to say anything. I pulled into my driveway and parked my baby.

6:47pm.

By now, Paige had left for her date and Ryan and I were wasted. We had gone through at least 4 bottles of Vodka and 1 of cool drink. We had ordered a couple pizzas as well and finished them. Currently, we were halfway through Moana, only watching it because we were 2 drunk 18 year olds.

"Hey Kendall?" Ryan slurred, "Do you like him?"
I was quiet for a while, did I? "I haven't met him. But you know me, I don't like any guy who knows or even wants my sister. Guys are trouble. They get to know you and then just leave. And break your heart." I trailed off softly.
He looked at me for a minute, seemingly gathering his thoughts.
"Not all guys Kendall. Some want to stay. Don't judge everyone else based on your past experiences." He said, stroking my cheek with his right hand. "And to be honest darling, I think I am about to throw up." He said and dashed into the downstairs bathroom. I followed shortly after, grabbing some water for him. Stroking his back while he vomited, I waited until he was done before giving him the bottle. He sat up against the wall, "Nothing helps Kal. It's all still there...." he trailed off. My heart ached for him. "I- I know Ryan," I replied, not realising that I had started breaking down too. I wiped away the tear as fast as it came, we should go to bed. "We should go to bed Ryan. Sleep this off. We have school tomorrow."
He nodded and got up. "I'll take the guest room tonight. "
I nodded as he slowly walked away, "Hey Ryan?"
He stopped and turned to look at me. I walked up to him and gave him a long enough hug, "Goodnight. I'm just down the hall if you need me." He nodded and went on to the guest room as I cleaned up the living room a little bit before heading upstairs to my room to get some sleep as well.
It was only 7:26pm so I knew Paige would be home.
