"You're the only person that has wanted to see what's underneath, Why?"
"Because I care. You have this facade that is slowly crumbling as each day passes. I want to be the one you tell everything to. I want to be the one you trust, the one you confi...
After that phone call I couldn't go back to sleep. My heart was racing a mile a minute.
Did that seriously happen?
I had to convince myself that I wasn't dreaming, this has officially marked the start of my life. Although I was so happy I couldn't help but think that this position would have been a permanent one if it wasn't for Professor. Russo.
-----
"I am one of the top professors here at Colombia, if you listen who knows what I could make happen for you."
"W-what do you mean professor?" I asked with worry as Professor. Russo inched closer to me as the seconds passed.
"Come on Skylar, enough of the games, you reeled me in and you have caught me...I'm yours so stop putting up a fight."
"I don't understand, I reeled you in?"
"You know for a 22-year-old you are quite naïve" Professor said now just inches away from me.

I stopped those past thoughts before it would completely damper my mood, but no matter what, I still felt dirty. That's how I found myself in the shower once again, but this time it was past midnight.
After the shower, I headed straight to my laptop with my towel still wrapped around me. It was too late, or should I say too early in the morning to call my sister and tell her the good news. Opening my Gmail account, I could see an unfamiliar name. Out of curiosity I opened the email and immediately I knew who it was from.
Subject: Must Read!
As we have discussed over the phone, it is very pertinent to look over the syllabus that I have attached at the bottom of this page. If you have any further questions, please contact my secretary at any given time. Along with the syllabus there is a staff calendar that must be read thoroughly.

How come his name sounds so familiar? before reading the syllabus I decided to look up his name on google. Within seconds many results popped up.

I headed towards my storage bin where I kept all my books and rummaged through it until I found what I was looking for.
"Aha!" I said as I held it in my hand.

Wasted Love, by Nicholas Donavon. Looking at the book you could see the small wear and tears indicating that is has been read more than once.
It's impossible that the guy I spoke to on the phone is a bestselling author. In awe, I quickly went to the back of the book where I could see a picture of the author along with a little biography.
The voice I heard on the phone was powerful and assertive, it gave me the idea that the man was in his late 50's, but according to this book Nicholas Donavon is a 30-year-old man whose hometown originally was Located in Chicago Illinois, Nicholas Donavan currently resides in New York.
I was still in shock that the person I would be a teacher assistant to is a man who's written one of the best books in today's society.
Wasted Love is about a man who grew up in a wealthy family, the family was basically forcing their son to get involved with family friends for the father's business to continue to multiply. The son did not love the lady they have chosen for him, because he was already in love with his current girlfriend. This girlfriend did not meet the standards for the guy's family because she wasn't from a rich background. The son told his father one day that he refuses to marry the lady his father wanted, and that he will marry his girlfriend instead. The father wasn't too happy about this and gave the son an ultimatum, "It's either you marry who I choose for you, or you leave this house now and won't receive any help from me financially. At the time the son was 18 years old, and with his head up the son packed his bags and left the house without a word and married the woman he loved. Towards the end of the story you can see the couple having issues. Infidelity and drugs by the wife caused a divorce between the two. I would never forget the last line of the book. "At the time of when I was eighteen, I had believed that this love would be all that mattered, but now I see it's nothing but a wasted love."

The next day I finally called my sister and told her the good news, just not the part of me being on probation.
"You see I told you, they would be fools not to hire you."
Thinking back to the conversation it brought me to smile. My sister has always believed in me, even when I thought my life's purpose was to be a tattoo artist at the age of 15.
"Oh yeah!" I screeched.
I quickly grabbed my laptop and went to my email. I forgot to check out the syllabus. Once the page was fully loaded I clicked on the attachment.
As I browsed through it all, I saw that all the readings that were assigned were those that I have read already. But to be smart I would write down several notes with each assigned chapters just to be prepared.
On the last page there was a calendar for the month I was currently in and the next month after that before classes began.
For the first month that I was currently in, it said on the 11th to call Linda the secretary between 12 noon to 3 pm. I'm not sure why but I guess it's got to be done. On the 21st of that same month it asked me to fax or scan my driver's license, teaching degree, my health insurance card, and my social security card to Linda's email or to the office number. The following month I am to report to campus for a tour of the school on the 3rd, then I have a meeting with Nicholas Donovan on the 18th of that month. The month after that would be the official start of school.
"Not too bad, you got this Skylar" I said to give myself confidence.
"Now for the fun part..." I opened a new tab to look for rental houses in Ithaca NY, which is where Cornell University is located. I saw two houses that stood out to me and were around my price range. I called the realtor for both houses and scheduled to meet them this month in four days. That gives me enough time to sign a deal with them, leave New York City, and move in to my new house. It's unreal how fast things are going, but that's what makes it thrilling.
