Katie woke up to the sound of her mother's voice.
"Katie! Time to go! Do you want to be late?"
She groaned. But the blanket has claimed me as it's own! If I leave now, I will betray it's trust!
"Now!"
Sighing, Katie got out of bed and dressed. She put on shorts and a tee-shirt with the name of a band that nobody ever listened to. She pulled her blonde hair into a ponytail and put on black mascara that made her big brown eyes pop. Then she followed her mom to the car, grabbing a protein bar on her way out.
Her mother drove her to a small city only an hour from their house. She then pulled up to school and let Katie out of the car.
"I love you, Katie!"
"I love you too!"
Katie grabbed her music bag and walked inside.
Katie had been singing ever since she could talk and had been learning how to play guitar for years, but at camp she would only sing.
Why?
Simple! Katie was scared. She had never been to this camp before, and she really wanted to make friends.
Step 1: Do NOT make a fool of yourself! Be cool!
Katie stepped inside, taking in the group of people.
Yeah... Be cool...
Katie stood in the corner looking.
Hmmm... They look nice!
There was a group of friends, all girls, talking. None of them were really significant, but oh well.
Then the group spotted another girl and took off running.
Oh. Wow...
She was a small thing with blue hair that was going back to a dirty blonde. She had big blue eyes and a gorgeous smile.
She's so pretty! Wait? What?! Pretty?! Katie! What are you thinking?!
But she continued to stare at the girl. The stranger looked up and met her gaze.
"Hello there! Are you new?"
Katie nodded, stunned that such a pretty girl would talk to a creature like her.
"My name is Brooklyn! You can call me Brooke! What's your name?"
Katie was in shock.
"M-my name's Katie. Katie Price..."
And you can call me anything you want!
Brooke laughed.
Katie stared, shocked.
"Umm... Hon! You said that out loud!"
Katie blushed, embarrassed.
"Aww! You're cute when you blush!"
Katie's face felt hot. I bet I'm as red as a tomato!
Brooke smiled and changed the subject to prevent Katie from dying of embarrassment.
"No way! You listen to 'Outcasts' too!"
Katie saw her shirt matched Brooklyn's. Katie grinned.
"I didn't know anybody else listened to them!"
"Yeah," Katie laughed. "Neither did I..."
