Can You Hear Me?

Makiye: mommy, are we there yet? I have to potty.

Amarie: almost baby. Do you think you can hold it like a big boy?*smiles*

My babyboy was getting so big, and my little princess Mia was right behind him. I leaned my head against the head rest and watched her sleep.

Khleo: she’s sleep again huh?

He chuckled as he drove.

Amarie: yeah, lookin just like her dad. *smiles*

Khleo: Well, babygirl gon’ have to wake up because we’re here.

He said pulling into the driveway.

Makiye: MIA. MIA. LOOK.

He said shaking her car seat.

Makiye: DAD GOT A BIG HOUSE!!!

He pushed his face against the window, with his hands sticky from his sucker. Guess my evening will be spent cleaning out the back seat of this SUV. Smh.

Khleo and I grabbed the kids from the back, and walked to the front door.

Khleo: Mia baby, look what daddy got you.

He bounced Mia up and down to wake her up, and smiled.

Mia wasn’t having any of this foolishness, so she slipped her small little hand in front of daddy’s mouth and rested her head on his chest.

Makiye let out a high pitch laugh.

Amarie: well are you going to open the door, or are we going to stand here all day? Your son is getting to heavy to carry.

I said tickling Makiye.

Once we got in the house, babyboy ran to the bathroom and I followed behind.

Makiye: by myself mommy.

He said platting his chest.

Amarie: Since when? *folds arms across chest*

Makiye: daddy teached me how.

he opened the bathroom door, and closed it slowly. I shook my head and walked toward the kitchen.

Amarie: your son is something else.

Khleo: *laughs* you helped make him too, you know.

He kissed my lips and winked at me.

Mia: yuckie.

We both smiled as the moving truck pulled next to our car outside.

Khleo: go to mommy, daddy’s gotta help bring your castle in.

Mia jumped into my arms and I held her tight.

After everything was settled in the house, I started on dinner for my family.

Khleo: damn baby, smells good in here.

I glanced up from the food and gazed at my husband in his boxers, coming from the stairs.

Amarie: not that im not enjoying this fabulous view, but you need to put some clothes on before our kids think its okay to walk around here naked.

He stood behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

Khleo: kids are sleep baby, it’s just us now.

He kissed my neck seductively and I smiled.

Makiye: daddy?*rubs eyes*

Khleo: hey big man, whats up? I thought you were sleeping.

Makiye: scared.

He walked up to Khleo holding his hands out. He picked up Makiye and rocked him back and forth. Not to brag, but my husband was an extremely good father. Maybe because we’ve tried for years to have children and we were never successful. Then we were blessed with two beautiful babies three years ago and our lives changed for the better.

I finished dinner and served my two handsome men, then walked upstairs to grab my daughter.

Mia: shhhh, someones coming.

I heard her whisper.

Amarie: Mia?

I called for her.

Amarie: who are you talking to baby?

I said pushing back her door as she stood up from the floor.

Mia: the girl mommy.

I swallowed hard. Not this again.. I thought to myself. I looked around the room, then back at Mia.

Amarie: honey, we live here now. No one is here but us.

I scooped her into my arms and walked down stairs.

Mia: but she wants me to help her.

Amarie: okay baby.

I said quietly, wanting this conversation to end.

I kissed my daughter as we walked into the kitchen and sat her at the table next to her brother. As we ate, Mia had me worried. She hadn't touched her food, and she was very quiet.

Khleo: you okay princess?

He announced to Mia. She nodded her head and pushed her finger into her mashed potatoes.

Khleo: dont play with your food, eat it baby.

She picked up her fork and pushed some peas into her mouth.

I looked over at Khleo and he winked at me. I forced a smile and continued to eat my food.
