The Summers Household
January 7th, 2000 8:53 PM

"God dammit Scott do you know how much damage you've caused?!" Scotts angry mother yells at him because of the incident at the school.

"Mom, he didn't know it would happen. Like me, I never knew when my powers would show," Alex replies to his mother, trying to calm her down.

"Oh, yeah thats right isn't it? All you mutants...so ignorant. Never know when 'anythings gonna happen', is that right Alex?" Alex's mother replies.

"So thats what we are to you now, mutants? We are still your children, mother. Can you not accept that?" Scott says as he sits on the couch with a bandage tightly wrapped around his eyes.

The mother replies, "I guess not,"

"Well then I've had enough of it! Your hatrid towards mutants! Everytime you talk about how you hate mutants, do you know how much your bringing your son, YOUR SON, down?! Now me? Now I have to go through the pain, realizing that my mother hates my brother and I?!" Scott yells to his mother in anger, almost deep sadness.

His mother looks at Scott and then back at Alex. She starts bawling and covers her face as it drowns in tears. She runs to her room and slams her door three times into the wall before closing it. Alex and Scott can hear her screams coming from the door as she continues crying.

Scott rushes into his room, depressed.

"Scott..." Alex asks, but is ignored.

"Mother, I love you dearly. I know its been difficult since father passed away. But I can't live like this. You always yelling, saying you're going to change, well you're not. This day only made you worse, broke our family apart more. I can't live like this...depressed. I need to move on, live somewhere I feel more comfortable, with people my own kind. Goodbye mother, I will always remember you.
Love, Scott"

Scott read the letter he had been writing to his mother outloud, but Alex had heard him.

"You gonna write 'Love Alex' on there as well?" he says.

Scott asks, "What do you mean?"

"Well I'm going with you. I dont wanna leave mom but I'm not gonna watch you walk out of that door alone," Alex replies.

"Well you don't have to," Scott takes the letter and quietly sneaks into his moms room as she still sleeps. He places his letter on the pillow next to her and tries to hold himself back from crying. He kisses her on the forehead and walks back down the hallway.

"Lets go," Alex says.

"Your not coming with me. I don't need a guardian," Scott replies.

Alex flicks Scott on his bandage, reminding Scott that he cannot see or open his eyes, "Yeah, you kinda do,"

Scott sighs, "Fine, lets go,"

The two walk out of the front door with their things and exit the home.

"Gosh, I am sure tired," Alex complains.

"Told you, ya should've stayed home, Alex," Scott replies.

"God dammit Scott, you always gotta be so stubborn! Lets just rest for a while," Alex says.

The two walk down the long sidewalk until they reach an alleyway with bright lights shining down it.

Alex and Scott lay down next to a trashcan where it is dry and there is light shining on them.

"Well, goodnight lil brother," Alex says.
