"Harry, look at mummy. Look here." Anne points to herself as she's trying to get Harry dressed for the day. The boy was only interested in the things around his room. "What comes after shirt?" She asks once she manages to get his attention again.

"P-pants!"

"You are absolutely right darling!" Anne cheers and helps Harry slide his pants up his skinny legs, over his pull-up covered bum. "Alright, what comes after pants?"

"Socks!"

"You're so smart baby!" She manages to get Harry dressed for the day, no melt downs, and that was a big deal. She packs spare clothes in his ninja-turtle themed backpack, which Harry had owned for about 8 years now since every time it was even suggested to get a new one Harry completely lost it.

Harry was special, they had found out when the boy was four years old. He had hardly learnt to talk by that age and refused to near anyone besides his mother or father, well, step father. He had come a very long way since then but he was a little behind mentally. He goes to school, a class with just five individuals that each needed extra support at school, but it made Harry happy because he loved school. He loved math, the boy didn't know he was doing fourth grade math, but it made the thirteen-year-old happy. Sometimes if he was really good he got to write down the word of the day on the whiteboard with just a tiny bit of help from the teacher because sometimes he wasn't sure how to spell it.

"I think daddy has made some yummy breakfast downstairs, should we go take a look?" She straightens Harry's shirt and ruffles his hair a bit, making the boy whine, before they head downstairs.

"Wow Harry, daddy made pancakes today because it's a special day."

"Don't want 'em."

"Harry, be nice. Daddy made it because it's your first day of school."

"Want toast."

"Harr-."

"It's fine Anne." Robin places a kiss on Anne's head before popping a piece of bread in the toaster. It was the first day back after summer and they wanted to avoid any melt downs this morning. "Are you excited baby? Gonna learn lots of new things today?" Harry nods, too busy drowning his juice to answer. "Here's your toast." Robin places the plate of dry toast in front of the boy, nothing else could touch the bread because then it would be ruined.

"What do we say, Harry?"

"T-thank you." Anne sends him a proud smile and makes sure to praise him for being a good boy. A little gesture that makes Harry feel good.

"Should we go check the things in your bag to make sure we have everything?" Harry nods and runs towards his backpack that Anne had placed by the front door.

"Book. Pencil. Colours. Harry's special pants. Pants. What is that mummy?"

"That's a note from your doctor to give to your teacher." Harry nods repeating the words 'give note to teacher' a couple of times before he nods again. "Is everything in your bag, baby?"

"Uh-huh."

"Great. Then we should get going. Don't want to be late." Anne straps Harry in his seat in the back of the car. Yes, the boy was thirteen but he didn't understand the concept of sitting still in the car and keep the seatbelt on. So, they opted for a car seat, and the boy was fairly small so it was no problem. She looks one last time in the rear-view mirror at the boy who was quietly humming to himself as he occupied himself with the straps on his seat.

The drive to school takes about twenty minutes because Harry couldn't go to the school in his neighbourhood, it didn't offer a special program. Anne was happy with the school he went to now, so an extra fifteen-minute drive was nothing if it was for her boy's happiness.
