Veronica grabbed Betty's hand and led her through a small secluded area near the river. Betty happily followed. Betty didn't want anyone to know they were dating. Although, everyone somehow knew. Once Betty called off the engagement it was clear why.
"Betty, I could never have someone better in my life than you. You've made me a better person. No one has been able to muster enough confidence to put me in my place, but you did and you do. I love you for that. That changed me. I just want you to know that I love you so much." Veronica sheepishly smiled.
"Veronica, l love you too. I never would have been as happy as I am with you if I ended up with Jughead, Collin, or even Archie." Betty pulled Veronica in closer and they kissed. It was a long and passionate kiss. Both girls were head over heals in love.
Betty smiled and sat down in the grass. Veronica's hand was in her hand. Their fingers intertwined. They stared into each other's eyes. Both had a smile on their face.
"I think I'm ready to tell everyone," Betty announced," Starting with my mom."
Veronica nodded and hugged Betty. Veronica hated keeping their relationship a secret. When Betty told her that, weight was lifted off of her shoulders.
_____
"Mom, I have something to tell you."
Veronica stood by Betty's side. She was there for support, and if Alice went psycho she could protect the blonde. Veronica didn't want Betty to end up getting hurt.
"What is it, and why is Veronica in our house?" Alice demanded.
"Ok well," Betty sighed and collected out thoughts,"Me and Veronica are.... dating."
Alice's eyes widened. Her mouth dropped open and she was left in shock. She tried to say something but nothing came out, so she just turned a stormed off. Straight to Betty's room.
Betty sighed and followed her mother. Her mother was packing Betty's bags. Betty knew she would be in deep trouble. Maybe even sent off like Polly.
"Betty, maybe we should g-"
"Betty's going to a place for troubled teens. Just like Polly. You and Polly." Alice shook her head and snarled.
"Mom, why do you care? I'm happy with Veronica. I'm not going to this place." Betty was crying now.
Alice looked up. Her eyes were full of shame. She was ashamed of her daughter. She sighed and kept packing. She tore everything out of Betty's closet and stuffed it in a bag.
"Please, just try and understand," Betty cried.
"Understand what? That my daughter has turned away God? Or that she's dating a rich girl who wrongs so many people? What am I supposed to understand?"
"Veronica is different. She loves me, and I love her," Betty gritted icily.
Alice stopped packing. She looked at Veronica who was standing straight on the verge of tears. Then she looked at her daughter who had her head in her hands. Veronica's hand was on Betty's back soothing her.
"Your leaving tomorrow morning." Alice left the room. She left the room cold.
"Betty, I'm-"
"I'm not going to that place she's talking about. Veronica can I stay at your house?" Betty asked her voice was so below a whisper.
Veronica nodded and hugged the girl. For a minute, Betty felt comfortable. Even after she was disowned by her mother. They stood there crying.
______
"Veronica thank you for letting me stay here. I know it's a bit of trouble-"
"Trouble? Betty Cooper you are far from trouble. It's a luxury to have you here."
Both girls went to the couch and spent there night watching corny chick flicks and dumb comedy's. It all felt safe.
_______Veronica pulled Betty over to a crowded area in the halls. Veronica had a plan. Betty just wanted to announce her relationship.
"Everyone, I have something to tell you all." The hallway went quiet as Betty spoke.
"I know this might come off a shocker, but me and Veronica are in a relationship."
Everyone clapped and cheered. There were a few cold stares, but they came from Cheryl and her group.
Veronica knew this would be the perfect moment. She grabbed Betty's hands and stared into her eyes. Betty was confused.
"Betty, you make me the most happiest girl alive. I really love you. So much so, that i'm willing to marry you. So.... Will you marry me?" Veronica asked.
Betty covered her mouth. Tears were flossing and her hands were shaking. Everyone knew what answer she would give.
"Yes. Yes. Yes. Veronica Lodge, I will marry you."
