Chapter 4

Dawn walked silently home with Luna at her side. "He can hear me," Dawn whispered. "He can hear me." Luna responded. "You dont think," Dawn glared at her and Luna shut up quickly. "Can we just change the subject?" Dawn said harshly. Luna looked at her shoes and kicked the rock in front of her. This would be a long walk home. 

Dawn opened the door and dropped her things on the floor. "Hi mom." She said as she walked into the kitchen."Hi hun, how was your day?" Her mother looked up from the papers in front of her and smiled. "It was good mom. What's for dinner?" 

"I havent decided yet, that reminds me, Alpha called a meeting for later on tonight." Her mother spoke softly which seemed to soothe Dawn a little. "Ok, just call me down when your ready to go." Dawn said as she grabbed her things and trudged up the stairs.

As soon as she got in her room she dropped everything and jumped into her bed and a loud sigh followed. "What the hell is wrong with me? One minute you hate him, the next minute you want him." She ran her hands through her hair and let out a frustrated scream. To hell with him, she thought. No man was getting to her heart. 

'Why not?'

Dawn shot up in bed and yelped, startled by Jet's sudden intrusion. 'What the hell Jet! Stop listening to me.' She whined in her head. 'Can't help it if you just happen to come up in my mind link.' He said defending himself. 'Whatever, what do you want?'

'Nothing just listening to you.'

Dawn cleared her mind and let out a huff of breath before getting out of her bed and going to change before the meeting.

One thing Luna couldnt stand about Dawn was the fact that she absolutly hated love or anything that hinted love for that matter. She understood, but sometimes she just wished her friend would snap out of it and realize she cant run away from love forever. Her mate was bound to find her eventually. 

"Luna hurry up, the meeting is in a few minutes." She heard her father calling from downstairs. Luna tied her pony tail tight and strapped on her Nikes one more time before heading out the door. "Ready dad," She called as she ran down the stairs. "Thats my girl," He father said grabbing her roughly and pulling her in towards him. Yeah, she understood why Dawn missed this so much.

All sat down and listened intently to what Alpha had to say. Usually meetings were held on Saturdays, but there was an emergency and the pack needed to be alerted immediatly. "I am here to talk to you all about our rival pack, the Red Moon pack." Silence fell upon everyone as the name slithered its way through the crowd. Dawn looked down at her shoes and tried to keep her cool. She would not cry. She would not show weakness. 

"As you all know, the Red Moon Pack has taken some of our own in the past," Alpha scanned the crowd and lingered on Dawn breifly before scanning the crowd again. "They are very close and I feel that their Alpha wants to start war again, but I will not let that happen." Alpha spoke loudly and stared at his pack with authority and compassion. "My son, Jace, has gotten word that there is another pack in our youngs school and I fear it is our rival." 

Dawn and Luna, wide eyed, looked at each other with shocked expressions. 'Jet'

'Blake'

Alpha resumed speaking more on the issue until the meeting was over and many started to go home, but Luna and Dawn were both at a state of unrest. "We tell no one," Dawn said as soon as she was close enough to Luna. "I agree, but what if they find out?" 

"They already know we're wolves. They'll connect it together somehow." Luna's face fell and Dawn could see tears in her eyes. Luna had always been prone to cry in stressful situations. Dawn hated crying. It was weak. "Toughen up, we'll figure this out. I promise."

Even though Dawn tried not to think about it, she knew Luna could hear her. What if they were our mates. What if this turned out like her dad. What if she turned up just like her mother. This wasnt the first time Dawn had thought about this, but it was the first time she had thought about her and Jet being mates, and she hated it. Not because he might be her mate, but because it meant she was falling in love.

"Can you please explain the look on your face?" Jet asked as he and Dawn roamed the hallways before first period started. "Nothing I'm just tired is all." She said not making eye contact. "If this is about the whole mind link thing-" Dawn cut him off mid-sentence. "Its not about that, I'm just," She paused, not knowing what to say yet. "It's okay you dont have to say it," Jet said softly to her. He wrapped his arm around her and surprisingly she didnt flinch or push him away. Jet decided not to push his luck and was silent about it.

'Yeah dont push your luck.' She sounded in her head. He chuckled and they walked in silence all the way to class. 

Jet jumped out of his seat the minute the bell rang. He needed to find her. "Whoa dude, where are you going?" Blake shouted after him as he started to sprint through the hallway. 'Got to ask her out.' Jet said while trying to sniff her out. She should be right...

"Why are you in such a hurry?" Dawn grabbed his wrist and pulled him to a hault. Jet smiled brightly at her flashing his canines. Dawn rolled her eyes. "Now tell me why youre in such a hurry." She asked once again. "I need to ask you something." Jet said. Dawn started to panic a little and her heartbeat quickened. She realy hoped he hadn't been listening to her thoughts when they were at the pack meeting. 

"It's about you and me this weekend." Jet continued, not noticing Dawns discomfort. Dawn quickly started to think of explanations and lies so he wouldnt expect anything. The last thing she needed was some random wolf staking out her pack.

"So will you?" Jet finally asked. "Wait what?" Dawn snapped out of her thoughts and turned her attention to Jet again. He looked slightly sick and his palms were very sweaty. "Are you okay? Did I do something wrong?" 

"No, no" He nervously laughed. "I just wanted to know if you would go out with me this weekend? I mean I know we got off on the wrong foot and all, but I really want to make it up to you." 

"Oh," Dawns whole body instantly felt relieved and she let out the breath she didnt know she was holding. "Yeah, I'd love to see the gentleman side of you." Dawn laughed. "Who said I was going to be a gentleman?" Jet asked. Dawn puffed out her cheeks and crossed her arms. "You're pushing it,"

"Sorry," 

"Well see you later I guess." Dawn said as she spotted Luna by her locker. "Bye," Jet said scratching the back off his head with a huge goofy grin on his face. Even though Dawn was smiling she couldnt help but feel a little dead inside. Her wolf hadnt said yes to that date, she did, and Dawn absolutely hated herself for it.

Yes another chapter! I know I've been gone for so long and I'm guessing this is pretty short, but people let me tell you, my teachers want me to die of sleep deprivation. They have pushed up my homework load and I'm up so late at night doing nothing but homework. Believe me when I say I've tried to write for you guys, but I always get very little done so bear with me. 

So anyone else wondering about Dawns dad or the fact that she hates love? Suspense!! 

All shall be revealed in future chapters! So be patient.
