Sherlock woke after a while still in Johns arms, his head had stopped aching and so he opened his eyes to look around and caught John looking fondly down at him. Sherlock smiled up at him and looked around again deducing that John hadn't moved at all from when he had fallen asleep against him.
"How long have I been sleeping?" Sherlock asked, looking back up at John.
"I dunno about forty two minutes" John replied, stroking through Sherlocks curls again and making him push his head into Johns hand.
"You counted?" Sherlock asked confused.
"Nothing much else to do, besides I'm your doctor and I'm keeping an eye on you" John insisted, pushing Sherlock back down as he tried to sit up. "Rest Sherlock, you haven't slept enough recently."
Sherlock groaned and collapsed back down into his doctor, closing his eyes as John continued to trail patterns over his scalp.
After around an hour Sherlock sat up and swung his legs back around onto the floor, his shoulders hunched and his head falling into his palms.
"How's your teeth?" John asked quietly, leaning forward and lifting Sherlocks head to face him.
"Good good" Sherlock insisted, swiping his tongue over his teeth and feeling that they all felt smooth and straight as usual.
John chuckled remembering Sherlocks drugged state, "don't you mean guf guf?" John smiled, lifting his hand to Sherlocks face and sliding his upper lip out the way to reveal the fixed tooth that had been twisted and chipped.
"What do you mean?" Sherlock questioned, his lip still raised by John and making him mumble his words accidentally.
John let go of his lip and Sherlocks face was contorted into a frown as he looked at John, hunting for answers but as usual John was unreadable.
"When they put you under general anesthesia and you woke up, you had a lisp and you weren't making much sense" John chuckled, standing up to make them both coffee.
Sherlock began to recall the events of the night before and groaned in annoyance at his drugged state, he'd said a few things that he hadn't meant to say out loud. His cheeks blushed in embarrassment as he recalled confessing his love for John.
Now he was going to get a whole new headache from all his thoughts and he thought his head might explode with algebra and other facts.
He was snapped painfully out of his thoughts at the sound of clinking cups and the spoon hitting the sides as he stirred it. Sherlock looked up to see John carrying in the two mugs.
"Do you remember yesterday then?" John asked tentatively.
"Yeah I do, I remember all of it, thanks for looking out for me by the way" Sherlock said quietly as he sipped at his coffee, black two sugars. John knew him too well.
"Before you fell asleep?" John asked slightly nervously.
Sherlock sighed, "every bit John, sorry about what i said, I can leave if you want I don't want it to be awkward between us"
"Your not going anywhere, you've changed my life. You must have forgotten what I said then because you wouldn't be saying that otherwise." John told him firmly, blue eyes locking with Sherlocks glasz ones.
Sherlock felt nervous. He'd never felt nervous before. He couldn't think how to link letters together let alone words.
"J-john I don't- I don't know what you-you mean" Sherlock stuttered, his voice slightly higher and looking at John with worry in his eyes.
He bit his bottom lip between his teeth as John smiled at him and then reached up, stroking Sherlocks bottom lip gently, "don't bite Sherlock, bad for your teeth and your lips" he whispered softy, Sherlock slowly let his lip go.
"But John-John make me under-understand" Sherlock begged, his stuttering increasingly worse.
"Maybe this will help you understand" John said softly, cupping Sherlocks face gently and pressing his lips to Sherlocks, it was gentle and reassuring and Sherlocks eyes fluttered closed, his eyes lashes fanning against his cheekbones. John broke away slowly, and Sherlock sat there still, his eyes closed, his lips slightly parted and his cheeks gently flushed.
"Your gorgeous, do you know that?" John said quietly. Sherlocks eyes slowly opened to meet Johns whilst his blush deepened to a brilliant rouge. Sherlock looked at him uncertainly, and John just smiled sadly at Sherlock. "Has no one ever told you that?"
Sherlock shook his head, no one had ever been with him or admired him or anything. Molly Hooper was always around but she wasn't the same as this.
"Well then, if you'll let me, I'll have to tell you everyday" John said with a smile, sliding his thumb from Sherlocks cheekbone and then along the curve of his ear. It tickled Sherlock slightly and he tilted his head to the side looking at John still.
"I would but-but why would you-you ever want-want me?" Sherlock asked.
"Sherlock if I listed everything about you that I loved by counting off the cells that made up your beautiful body, I'd run out of cells to continue and I'd still have thousands more left. Keep it to the basics though and I love how you look, your stunning and perfect and your skin is pale but it's beautiful against your ebony curls, your tall and slender, but you remind me of an otter with all your different facial expressions, take it as a compliment, they're secretly my favorite animal. Also I love your character, it's just so unique and splendid and even though you don't always say the nicest things I know the real you and I know you don't mean to cause pain, but instead just haven't had the social interaction to know the difference. And I could go on Sherlock but we'd be here for an eternity, my question is why you would ever have me?" John told him gently, his eyes alight and warm and Sherlock just wanted to live in the solar system that was lost within.
"Why would you ever ask that, your everything I'm not, you made me from a unfeeling robot to a sensitive human being and I'm still learning these new emotions but I know I love you John, I couldn't feel before I met you, I tried and failed but then you came and saved me from the damage that had been brought upon me and like your title, you were my doctor and you fixed emotional scars that had plagued me since I was young, you didn't call me a freak when you met me, you didnt say to piss off when I told you about yourself, you said I was amazing and no one has ever said that." Sherlock said quickly, he stumbled over words and paused in places but he got his thought across and John loved him more for it, shy and vulnerable, unloved and putting all his trust in John.
Sherlock had given his heart on a silver platter, John would always protect it, happily trading for his own heart in the process. He wouldn't allow Sherlock to get hurt.
