Prologue
"The Universe, in its entirety, was almost under the control of a single malevolent person and the stories surrounding his existence have been circulated for a millennium."
The man paused for a second, as to reconsider telling the boy in front of him the story. He resolved to keep at least one part of the story from his fragile grandson. He however, at least owed this to him, as he was about to give him away to be experimented on in exchange for curing the boy's chronic disease, mortem.
"He was one of the first evolved humans-"
"Evolved?" The man was in disbelief at the boy's stupidity.
"Damnit, I knew your mother had been trying to shield you from this. We are evolved; it is what gives me my speed. I am more than human, I can do things you can only dream of." In all reality the man was unsure of his grandson's evolutionary abilities, or even whether they existed. Typically an evolved human was recognizable at 14 years of age, he'd have an answer in two years.
For added effect, the man kicked his foot up and it collided with the boy's jaw, causing his head to snap back. The boy rolled his head forward and in the process, noticed that his jaw had been dislocated. He looked up at his grandfather definitely. His grandfather returned the stare with his signature smile, the one he used before he killed one of his subordinates. "The man's name was Masquerade, but everyone called him Lord." The boy perked up.
"Was that how I got my name?" The boy's jaw made it hard for him to enunciate, but he had dealt with worse.
"Indeed, Lord."
"Masquerade wasn't obsessed with power until he met the love of his life, whose name has been long forgotten. In order to do this he constructed the ultimate weapon, Hell's Blacklist. It was a starship that had unimaginable power. It could destroy all existing life on a planet. He established an empire, enslaving billions and erasing civilizations at random.
"How could someone like that be killed? Was it his lover? This is why you never trust a w-"
Before he could finish, Lord was picked off the ground by his dark-brown hair. His naturally yellow eyes stared back at his grandfather.
"You must be a complete idiot to believe that." The man had begun to contemplate whether saving the naive boy in front of him was worth the effort.
Before Lord could respond he was dropped to the floor. He waited for the imminent barrage of pain, but it never came, his grandfather was lost in thought.
"Eventually a girl by the name of Chelsea stood up to Masquerade. She matched Lord in every aspect, and when the two met each other, the resulting duel would decide the fate of the universe. Chelsea hadn't planned on killing Brokenstar directly. Instead, she had found an ally in Masquerade's daughter, who was a friendly, and kind-hearted person. After much debate Lord's daughter reluctantly agreed to kill her mother while Chelsea distracted Masquerade, she thought that the loss of life was too great to be ignored. She succeeded in ending her mother's life.
Brokenstar's daughter carried her mother's corpse to where Lord and Chelsea were. Upon seeing his lover, something inside Lord broke. Lord was aware that he was all too powerful, and that if he was ever killed his life force, the universal term for an evolved human soul, would transfer to another person, as would Chelsea's. His twisted smile remained fixed to his face as he picked up the corpse of his lover. He absorbed her life force, and as all of the emotional stress broke his heart, the Hell's Blacklist fell apart. Consequently, his lover was ripped from his cold hands by the void of space.
"Did they ever find her?"
A knock at the door drew their attention. The people who had been sent by the S.S to collect Lord had come rather early, whatever they're doing with him had to be of great importance.
Chapter 1 of the story had long been completed, it would be up to Lord on how the rest played out.
