Lord
I walked down the hallways of my grandfather's mansion, gliding my one good hand down the uneven cement walls. The lights above me flickered and blew out creating a cascade of sparks that led to my destination: the armory. I knew I couldn't beat Obsidia in this state, but that wasn't what I had mind...

Obsidia
I was sitting on the top of the tallest building in the city, eating breakfast, listening to the different frequencies that my earpiece could connect to. The staticky connection I'd been hearing for the past hour was giving me a headache, but there was a reason why I didn't move somewhere closer to the ground. This tower overlooked one of the main routes in and out of the city, the Esdes bridge. It was massive, stretching over 200 miles of the Idex ocean. All the other roads in the city were locked down by the S.S.
The door to my left opened and my eyes instinctively darted towards it. It was Lyell, the S.S operative who I'd trained with over a decade ago. While he wasn't an evolved evolved, he wasn't bad with a rifle, and we used to be good friends. I had stopped talking to him years ago, but apparently that hadn't stopped him from transferring to my current assignment.
He reached into his pocket, pulling out a fruit of some kind.
"Avoiding me, I see. What else is new, Obsidia?" He tossed the fruit in my direction, and I instinctively reached out my hand, catching it.
"We both know why I'm up here."
"This whole thing is kind of trivial, don't you think?"
I gave him an indignant look. "Orders are orders, even if it's just some stupid kid. Besides, nobody messes with me and lives, I'll just report that there was a unfortunate accident."
"Well that girl was still breathing the last time I checked. Why did you lie about disfiguring that her anyways?"
A took a bite of the fruit, cocking my eyebrow in a fashion that told Lyell that I had no clue about anything that he'd just said.
"Unless she had three arms to begin with, you didn't pry it out of it's socket like you said you did."
The realization dawned on me as he lit a cigarette.
"What all have you been smoking lately?"
I took another bite of the fruit as I waited for his response. Then another realization hit me, Lyell wouldn't have came all the way up here to make small talk.
"Wait, Where is he?"
Lyell played dumb. "Oh you mean that kid, Lord? He's a few minutes out from here."
I lept to my feet, walking over to the roof's edge.
Lyell exhaled, letting out a steady stream of smoke.
"The S.S have providing you with the means to stop him."
I nodded. "Should I expect to see you there?"
"I might decide to show up."
I knew that was a definite yes. I took one last bite of the fruit as I did a perfect front flip over the side of the building, scaling down the side...
