Fall to Grace
-----------------------Years later
Lord
I buried my face in my hands, tears were running down my face. My family had opted to send me back to the S.S for experimenting in exchange for money. I knew that I wouldn't survive this time, I'd lost most of the evolutionary abilities that I could've had when they screwed with my DNA. I was just a kid then, I didn't even know why I was being separated from my parents. Gravity pulled my white hair over most of my face, another reminder of what I'd been through. During the experiments the insane amount of pain and stress that I'd been put through had changed my hair to a ice-white color. I could thoroughly remember the feeling of those machines moving under my skin, or what was left of it anyways. I'd been crudely blindfolded throughout the procedure, but since it was transparent, leaving me with no choice but to watch my body being disassembled like some toy. The long scars that ran along my arms reminded me of the Acuo-Shock they'd used to take part of my life force, which was the soul that potentially-evolved people were given. I was the only person out of the group of children they'd used to receive it. I was also one of two people to survive, lucky me. My hair had eventually returned to a dull brown, but had recently returned to its original state, undoubtedly because of the fear of having to go back. I looked up at my mother, who was sitting only a few feet away from me, her brown hair made me look like I'd been adopted. She ignored by gaze, just as she did in every other aspect in life that involved me. She had lost all interest in me once it'd been discovered that I was barely evolved. My grandfather barely had time to talk, and he distanced himself from me once he learned what had become of me. I was an emotional wreck, but I'd managed to fake a smile and an optimistic attitude up until now. I focused my attention on the display screen that she was so interested in.
I couldn't believe what was on the news, Chelsea had been reborn! A 17 year old girl, the same age as me, had just been found to have an exact genetic match to the original Chelsea. I saw another flash of light out of the corner of my eye, the storm still hadn't died down. Within two hours of the announcement of Chelsea's rebirth nearly a dozen planets who had previously been neutral had pledged their allegiance to her and the U.A. I thought how this would affect the outcome of the war between the two empires, the Shadow Syndicate and the U.A.
The war had "officially" been postponed when both sides had agreed to the Treaty of Transcent, but everyone knew it didn't stop the fighting. The S.S and U.A had been using assassins to eliminate each other's top generals. I'd never been involved with the conflict but my grandfather, secretly, is one of the most influential people in the war.
My grandfather controls an S.S "aligned" planet, located on the very edge of known space, called Zedion. I guess you could say I'm from royal blood, but it's not something I'd consider bragging about. Back to the subject at hand, Chelsea's rebirth could be a game changer in the thousand year conflict, unless someone else were to step in and fight for the S.S. Then that it occurred to me, if she was reborn, then Lord Brokenstar would be as well. A maniacal smile spread across my face which was illuminated by another flash of lightning, that would be something I'd love to see.
The S.S was strange, especially in my experience. They sawed off my legs below the knee, and replaced them with a nearly indestructible, regenerative metal called Paracyte, which allowed me to walk on almost any surface. Perhaps they had planned to use me as a weapon, but those plans had been forgotten.
I pulled up the feed of the U.A broadcast using my neuro computer, another painful gift from the S.S. The 3-D video appeared in front of my right eye, showing the new Chelsea, being introduced to a crowd of thousands of people. I noticed her long, pink hair, her pale, white skin, and her eyes the same color as her hair, but much brighter in color. They seemed... familiar. I was deep in thought, trying to recall where I'd seen them before, when I heard a knock at the door. A wave of dread washed over me, it had to be the S.S. They were early, just like that night. My mother looked at me and gave me a sinister smile, for some reason every person in my family could smile like that. That was the only time I'd ever seen her use it and my eyes widened in a mixture of horror and hopelessness.
I activated my special ability, another painful augmentation given to me by the S.S, camouflage. While it only lasted for a few minutes, it made my body translucent, giving it a near-invisible look.
I opened the door, but much to my surprise a girl, who looked about my age, stood at my door step. I was disappointed by her reaction, she wasn't confused as to why the door had opened on its own.
I reappeared in front of her, but for some reason, she wasn't phased by it.
"M-May I come in?"
For the first time in my life, I felt sympathy for another person. She looked depressed, her light-blue eyes wouldn't so much as look in my direction, and instead remained focused on the ground. Her short-blonde hair had been soaked in the rain, but she was still unbelievably beautiful.
"Hello! Remember me? I'm the S.S soldier you stole from earlier.
A woman who looked to be about 25 was walking up the stairs to where the girl stood, her signature black and red clothes made it obvious who she was. So that's why the girl wanted a place to stay. She had messed with S.S affairs, a grievous mistake.
"It must be my lucky day, the kid that I'm supposed to collect is already waiting for me!"
I stepped past the girl, the Paracyte in my legs making a TING* with each step.
The woman spoke first: "Mind getting out of my way, Lord? I promise I'll deal with you soon.""
My name was infamous throughout this planet. I was the prince, after all.
"Nah, I'll take her off your hands."
Before she could respond I spoke the words: "Devil's pulse." A massive wave of energy was expelled from my hand, which spiralled directly into the woman standing in front of me.
