"Get back here you thieves!"the coworker yelled out while me and Matthew ran away from the shop. I tripped and fell, dropping the three things I had stolen from the shop. Matthew stops and looks at me and at the coworker who was chasing us,he was getting closer. Slowly picking up the things, Matthew starts pulling me by my arm. "Come on!" He shouts.

We ran past a lot of people trying not to bump into them. Once we finally had lost the coworker who wouldn't stop chasing us.

We were on the side of a building. I had my hands on my knees trying to catch my breath. Matthew was against the building wall, doing the same thing. "I think we lost them" he breathes out. The sound of thunder was heard. Not long ago rain started to pour from the sky. "Come on!" Matthew says while grabbing my arm again and making me stand up, then running off once again.

The rain was pouring hard. We were trying to find shelter to at least wait for the rain to calm a bit. I was tired, my knees and feet hurt. My throat felt dry and sore. My worn out sweater and pants were wet and weren't keeping me warm. "I can't, I'm too tired" I whimper out. Slowing down my paste. Matthew continued tugging on my arm with force making me jog. "No we need to get out of the rain....wait here" he says while taking out a foil looking blanket that he had taken out from one of the emergency bags from school. He puts it over me and drags me in between two big trash cans. He lets go of me and looks around. He walks over to a random area and takes out pieces of cardboard. He places them on top of the trashed cans. "Wait here while I look for something to at least keep us warm or at least keep us better out of the rain." Before he walked away, I grabbed his wet shirt. "Don't be a baby, I'll be right back" he says before getting out of my grip and running off to an unknown direction. Once he was out of sight I went in between the trash cans and under the cardboard that was barely keeping me out of the rain, but it was better than having nothing. I was worried for Matthew and Shawn, but mostly Shawn sensed we left alone at the orphanage, while we came here.

A few people were outside, either running through the rain or walking to where they needed to get too. Those few people would notice me and pity me. I could tell through their eyes. Maybe this is a mistake. We should just stay at the orphanage. We are too small for this big world.

"Jade!" I hear someone shout my name. I look and see Matthew coming. He pulls me out of the small area that kept me out of the rain for only a little.

"I found a place" that was all he said before we were running. I hated running. This was our life cycle running away from our problems or trying to find a place away from danger.

The view of a bridge was in sight. He stops running when we make it under the bridge. He leans against the wet brick wall and slides onto the ground. I clench onto the foil blanket thing. I walk towards him. Placing my hand onto his forward, he slaps my hand away.

"You're burning up" I say as he looks away. "I'm fine, I just need some rest" he says. I stopped bothering him because he wouldn't listen to me. I sat next to him covering him with the foil blanket too. We sat there and didn't say a word. He was worried for his brother, I was worried for his health. I looked up at the sky. I hope the rain calms down just a bit. We should have listened to Shawn, he had warned us before we snuck out.

Once the rain calmed down a bit. I stand up and start stretching my limbs. I waited for Matthew to do the same but he didn't. He tries to stand up but ends up falling onto his knees and to the ground. "Matthew!" I yell out while I quickly go by his side. His cheeks were red and his face felt like it was on fire. He has a fever. I grab the foil blanket that he had left on the ground and put it on him while I stand him up onto his feet. Placing his arms around my shoulder and placing one of my arms around his waist to help him walk.

I struggled walking with him. He slowly would stop walking, causing me to drag him. Once more the rain started to pour. I was trying to walk to the orphanage. But it was taking a long because of Matthew, I was only going back there to take him to Ms. Gil.

Once the orphanage was in sight, I quickly dragged Matthew faster. Come on just a couple of feet away. Then not to my surprise Ms. Done was there with an umbrella and Shawn by her side. She rushes towards us. She places her hand on Matthews forehead. "You two are so reckless" she whispers out. She takes Matthew out of my arms and rushes him inside. Shawn and I follow behind.

We were in the small infirmary room. Ms. Done had me shower and changed before I also got a fever. I was on my bed in the shared room that I shared with Shawn and Matthew. The room was silent. Shawn was also on his bed looking at the things Matthew had stolen from people, who some didn't notice but some did but it was too late Matthew would outrun them.

"You both are idiots," Shawn says. I look up at him. He finished looking through the items and took out one of his comics and started to read it. I bring my knees up to my chest. "I know" I mumble. "I know."
