Chapter 15

Mark:

I wake up to D knocking on my tank and it takes me a second to realize what is happening. She is out. She is almost free. And then she starts singing like the time before all the bullshit happened.

"I am alive"

"Immortalized"

"You're the creator you traitor"

"Hey!"

"There's no vaccine"

"To cure our dirty needs"

"For now you must"

"Build up our  machine"

"You die tonight!"

The glass on all the tanks breaks and Jack and I tumble out landing on the floor. "Come on!" D says running over to Jack trying to help him up. I help and soon we are running.

"THEY'RE GETTING AWAY! CATCH THEM! QUICKLY!" somebody says. I feel a bullet pierce my stomach and I whimper but keep running. This is not about me! It's about getting my husband and daughter out safely!

"Dark come on! Help me!" I plead inside my head but he doesn't answer. Typical!

"He's not there Mark. He won't come back. Anti saw them kill him..." Jack coughs. "When?" I ask quickly. "Yesterday. around midnight" Jack replies

I don't know what to do. If Dark is dead then I'm going to die...

"Keep running I have a plan!" I say letting go of jack and Death comes out to take my place.

"This better be good!" she yells and I nod. I hope so.

I turn around and run back letting them see me. "Catch him!" the paramedic Lea yells and I stand still letting them force me down onto the ground tying my hands together. "Why did you come back?" Lea asks. "Jack said you killed Dark" I cough and spit out blood.

"Yes, we did. We cured you! Aren't you happy!?" she asks in triumph "How did you kill him?" I ask sternly making Lea come down from her little trip. "He was a demon so we had to make sure he was dead!" she says putting force on was. "What did you do?" I ask. "We shot him, hung him. Electrocuted him. Burned him." Lea says like it's the most normal thing in the world.

"In that order?" I ask scared and she nods. That's why there was only one shot. It's was the shot for Dark.

"You know... A normal human can't even hold being shot. If you shoot them the right place"

"Where are you going with this?"

"If you kill a counterpart... The "Owner" of that counterpart will die too"

"And we killed your counterpart!"

"Yes..."

"So you will die! And you won't be a pain in our asses!"

Jack and D are thrown into the room and a tear runs down my face as I gasp for air.

"What is happening!?" Lea asks scared. "He will die in the exact same way you killed Dark" Jack whispers and D starts crying loudly.

"Can't you stop it!?" Lea yells and I shake my head. I can suddenly breathe again.

"You didn't want to kill Dark... You just wanted to torture him until he couldn't hold it anymore" I chuckle darkly. "What are you talking about?" Lea asks

"Well, Mark didn't die. He was obviously choking. You shot him but not in the heart which definitely would have killed him" D says.

"Electrocution," Lea says scared and I let out a scream as hundreds of volts run through my body.

Then it stops. I collapse and see D running over to me hugging me. Shaking me. Yelling at me.

Everything goes black and I die there on the floor.
