5- Half Dead Uncle

It was finally the last period of Friday. I was so ready for this weekend. My nose had healed and so had the bruise that Skulker had given me. There had been no ghost attacks today and that was fine by me.

I asked to use the bathroom and when I got there, my ghost sense went off. So much for wishful thinking. I was about to go ghost when an almost familiar figure rose from the floor. "Vlad?"

The ghost smirked. "Hello Daniel."

"A-are you dead?" It was the thing I could think to say.

"I told you that I was like you," the ghost said, showing his pointed teeth that poked through his blinding smile.

"B-but...what are you doing here? Are you going to actually tell me what's going on with the whole Prophesy thing or whatever it is?"

"The Witch's Curse is something that happens year after year," Vlad began. "Each time it roles around, it's up to someone who can become a ghost to take the book and read it at the gravesite. Now, my boy, since I've been doing it for the last thirty years, I'm passing this honor to you!"

I blinked. "Huh?"

"Are you deaf, boy? I said that you'll be taking over my job of making sire the witch doesn't awaken and terrorize the town. Now, in two nights, the pesky ghost will rise from her grave and reek havoc on Amity Park. I've decided that after thirty years, I need to pass this on to you. I have NP children since Maddy abandon me to go with your stupid father!" He stopped and took a breath. "Never mind that. I'm leaving for Wisconsin and making a better life for myself. I'm a freak here. You're going to have to grab the book from my house, I hope you don't mind, but I'll be on my way."

"Wait!" I called out before he could go intangible and through the wall. "What book? What witch? I don't get what your telling me to do!"

"Figure it out yourself! I've got no times for brats like you. Best of luck to you, Little Badger!"

With that, he disappeared through the wall. Crazy old man...I have no clue what he wants me to do! I guess I could try and find the book at his house and attempt to stop this curse, but I'm just a kid. I don't think I can do this!

"Yo, Fenton!" That was the unmistakable voice of my least favorite person, Dash. I groaned quietly. "What?"

"Were you talking to yourself? You weirdo! What was all that about?"

"Um...ghosts?"

Before I could get caught up with him, I rushed out of the bathroom, running into Sam. The bell had rung and it was time to finally be over with this nightmare for at least a few days. Although, I didn't feel as though I would be free. Vlad's words hung over me and I wasn't sure what he was talking about. I decided that I'd talk to my friends since they were the only ones who knew my secret. We would just take a quick detour to Vlad's house on our was to the local Nasty Burger, which we'd dubbed our hangout along with pretty much the rest of the school.

We found Tucker trying to flirt with Star, one of the girls on the cheer squad, but I could tell he was having no luck. She flipped her hair back in an obnoxious way and totally blew him off. He looked a little sad about it, but he had gotten used to rejection a long time ago.

"Give it a rest, Tucker," Sam said, not even attempting to keep the annoyance out of her voice. She had been friends with Tucker way longer than I had and she'd seen him attempt to flirt with every girl in Casper High, except for herself of course. That didn't bother her much.

I would laugh too, but besides my growing attraction to Sam, my main crush was totally unattainable. I, like so many immature high school boys before me, had fallen madly in love with the most popular girl in school, Paulina. It was a crush I decided no to tell my friends about, since we hadn't known each other for that long, but I guess I'm bad at hiding things since Tucker looked me straight in the eye and said, "We've all been there, dude." It was a miracle that nobody besides the two of them knew my secret.

We started our walk to the Nasty Burger, Tucker still feeling a little let down after being rejected, but quickly brushing it off when a shiver went down my spine and cool air slipped through my lips. "Uh, oh."

"What?" Tucker and Sam looked back as I transformed into my ghost half. Just then, I noticed Sam slip a familiar pair of goggles I've her eyes. "Hey! I can see you clear as a human now."

Tucker looked like he was pouting. "I wanted the goggles."

"I won these fair and square!" Sam said with a smirk. "So where's the ghost?"

I looked around. Oh great...it was my favorite ghost... NOT!

It was the incredibly annoying box ghost. Sam was going to finally going to see me fight, but I had to be him. I didn't bother with small talk. I just took out the thermos and sucked him up. I was way too tired to deal with this.

After I had captured the box ghost for the hundredth time, I just wanted to have a normal life and hang out with my friends. The curse could wait. Beside, it's not like I could actually trust Vlad. Just for today, I would go and have fun with my friends. I had until Sunday, so I wasn't too worried. I wasn't busy tomorrow, so I'd grab the book then.

I yawned and realized how much my transformations took out of me. Sam and Tucker were fighting over something, probably the goggles. I would take a rest tonight, then I'd worry...I was always a good procrastinator.

Looks like someone *points to self* doesn't have a clue where to end chapters!

So, as I get more likes and comments, I get inspired to update more often

((I don't read these chapters before I post them, so they don't make much sense, but whatever. That's waaaay too much work...jk I'm just a lazy author))

Any who, here's your crappy update! (I should plan these things out before post them...)

Update!

I know I've been messing with the cover of this story a lot, but I cant seem to find the right way to put the title on.
