I made my way to the hotel. I had to ride an airplane, then take the train. It was beyond claustrophobic in there. It might of scarred me forever.. Anyway, I walked into the front desk of the hotel. I scheduled a week at the place online a couple days prior. So they gave me my room keys, told me my number and said I could call room service anytime. There was only one problem. The hotel is not welcoming to dogs and other pets. Makkachin sat politely next to me with a pathetic look on his face. He didn't want to leave me, and I didn't either. The man at the desk said dogs were not allowed in the rooms. I had nowhere to keep him safe. That's when I pulled out my phone, scrolled down the contacts to the Y section. It was only person on there, Yakov. I was desperate and hoped he could find it in his heart to let him keep Makkachin.

"Zdravstvuyte?" He answered the call.
"Yakov! How are you?" I said with excitement.
"What do you want from me, Vitya?" He said, slightly annoyed.
"I'm sorry to call you on such short notice but, can you pet-sit my dog?" I pleaded.
"No-"
"Yakov, please! I'm begging you! The hotel service doesn't allow dogs and I need someone to keep him! It's only a week.." I cried.
"That is not my problem, Vitya. If you really cared about your pet, you would of gone to a different hotel."
I grumbled angrily away from the phone. The old man is really a grump.
"Fine then."
"Don't bother me again today, Vitya. Goodbye."
Yakov hung up. I decided to go for a walk. Conviently it was close to the beach I visited a while back. That's where it happened.

"Makkachin! Come!" I exclaimed. Makkachin raced me down the sandy stretch. The wind was in my silvery hair and Makkachin was running at full speed, with his floppy ears and face caught in the breeze's embrace. He tackled me with his whole weight only to bombard me with slobbery, messy, kisses all over my face. We snuggled in the sand and relaxed. I pulled off my shirt and went into the water for a swim. Makkachin watched from the sand.
I dove underwater and popped back up for air. I relaxed with the water and moved my legs with the slow, peaceful current. Then, Makkachin began to bark. Makkachin wasn't much of a barker, I raised him that way; but when he does bark, he is usually warning me of potential threat. I looked around, and nothing seemed disturbing. The water felt as smooth and serene as ever. But then I heard a huge surge. I looked behind myself and saw a 20 foot wave towering over me. I tried to out swim it but it plundered me into the water immediately.

Into the deep I went..  lower and lower. Makkachin's barks became faded and distorted for a bit. Then it became clearer, because I was surfacing. I coughed and coughed. Everything looked hazy and white. I couldn't see, I couldn't breathe. I saw flashes of lights before my eyes, and childhood memories I had long forgotten. I realized I was dying. This was it for me. Then, the white lights and memories were disrupted by a turquoise colored blur. It splashed water on my face and everything came back to me. I felt something on my hips grab onto me. It felt like I was being carried. The next thing I knew I was on the shore, Makkachin licking my face out of relief. I came back to reality and I was aware I was on the beach. I vomited out the salty seawater I swallowed, and I looked up, back at the ocean. And I saw that same turquoise blur, dive into the blue. That was when, I knew something saved me.
