Tomoko's P.O.V.

I hate geometry. It seems like a useless math to learn. I'm never going to be an architect or any type of builder so what use is it to me.

Tomoko: I don't know how to do my taxes but I know how to calculate the angles of this right triangle.

I said sarcastically in a dumb sounded voice.

(Y/n) laughed really hard at when I said that. At least he understands what I'm getting at. At least, when we were finished with homework, we could get into something we both like. I was starting to get out snacks for us and then (Y/n) and I started signing into our game accounts.  Soon enough, we went to the games webpage and the competition was a big deal.

(Y/n): Woah, this competition thing was a great idea on their part. A lot of people seem interested in it.

(Y/n) said as he began clicking around the webpage. He came upon more information about the competition.

(Y/n): Hey, look, I didn't know this. Is says that anyone competing in the Esports tournament has to do go through regular health exercises and strict diets.

Tomoko: We're just videogame players not actual athletes like a football player or something.

(Y/n): I guess they have their reasons. After all, even gamers have to be in top shape to compete. We can't win if we're tired or bloated so you know what that means. We can't keep eating all this junk food.

Tomoko groaned loudly.

Tomoko: -_-   .......Fine.

(Y/n): Other than that, we know all we need to know and with qualify for everything. We can start playing now but we'll have to make time for regular exercises.

I wasn't an athletic person. The only time I did anything physical was to lift my hands to shove food into my mouth or to play video games but I didn't mind exercising with (Y/n). Usually, he made everything we did together fun.

It wasn't long before we started logging into the game that a very well made cut scene welcomed us in. It was for the Esport tournament and with a cut scene like this, no doubt that everyone would be playing to win. We knew this because when we were in the game, a pop box came onto the screen showing thousands of competitors.

Tomoko: WHAT THE HELL. THERE'S NO WAY WE CAN WIN CONSECUTIVELY AGAINST ALL OF THESE PEOPE!!

(Y/n): Actually yes we can. It looks like a lot but people will be constantly eliminated where they choose to battle.

Tomoko: Look at all of these players though. This one looks so much stronger than everyone else.

Tomoko pointed to a players profile that read "Hellspawn" with a very menacing picture next to his name. His character was a max level of 120 and he was already at the top of the ranks.

(Y/n): We're only level 75 but I'm petty sure level doesn't mean everything as long as we have skill right?

Tomoko: How are we going to level up and compete at the same time. Just leveling our selves to max level is going to take a while, more than the 6 weeks we need to be at the top of the ranks.

I could see (Y/n) thinking hard about this. He was starting worry too.

(Y/n): Maybe we get EXP from competing with the other players.

Tomoko: They usually just give Arena points to redeem.

(Y/n): They could have changed that for this event. There's only one way to find out.

(Y/n) and I had never even set foot in the arena yet. e always preferred to be a higher level to increase our chances of victory and I was nearly as good at surviving still. I didn't want to be the reason that we lose at the first attempt to earn us a spot in the Esport tournament. Though I couldn't tell (Y/n) that. He seemed to trust in me and after I gave him a nod of agreement, the both of us were preparing for our first competitors.

We started late and so we were sort of at the bottom of the ranks with zero points to start with. Out first challenger were 5 levels higher than us at level 80. They were a duo of two girls that were dressed up as neko's. Uh, how typical and boring. One of them was named Mew134 and the other Kitty145. (Y/n) and I had our head wear plugged in. I guess we really had an advantage over these guys. Other than being a higher level than us, they were kids in real life, much younger than (Y/n) and I. Listening to them with our headgear, they just chatted with each other and they didn't seem to be taking the fight seriously. Whenever they did their high pitched giggled, it made (Y/n) and I take off our headsets for the rest of the battle.

Although we had the upper hand, our opponents higher level difference, made their attacks slightly more stronger than our own. It was hard to fight the two of them together. As cat's they were too agile and so (Y/n) and I were doing our best tor split them up but it would sometimes backfire. As the one with slightly less defense, they would come after me. However, I decided to use this. I was slightly drained of HP, (Y/n) seemed to have a full bar. Even if I did die, (Y/n) could still win this for us but I wanted out first victory to be with both of standing.

I was clicking horrendously, trying to use my avatar to lead the two cat girls into an ambush. With my tiny piece of HP, they were determined to get rid of the rest and followed me around the arena map aimlessly. I was running low on mana as well. I was trying to keep (Y/n) alive. His attacks were more useful than mine so I was trying to heal him more than myself. I had to wait a while until my mana refilled so I continued to run before cornering myself.

As I expected, the two cat girls were right behind me. I could see their mana was full and most likely they'd take me out using a big super move but they didn't have a chance to use it before (Y/n) beat them to it. He used a super move called "Calamity Slash". If you aim right, the move basically sliced through your enemies defensive and did major damage but cost nearly all of your mana.

Those two idiots didn't see it coming and with the few strips of HP (Y/n) and I managed to take away using a few close ranged attacks, it was enough to completely bring them down.
