-Katie-
I was walking home as usual after spending a day practicing for my competition. I was a gymnast at a sports college, representing the school because I was 'talented' Don't get me wrong I love doing what I do, but it can get boring. I don't have any time to myself, its always training. It was half past seven and pitch black as I turned the corner to walk to my family's house. I decided to take a shortcut because I was desperate to get home. Even though I hated it there. My mum and dad always argued, and with my dad being an alcoholic it would always end up with one of us getting hurt. I walked past the newsagents and headed down the alleyway. I heard shuffling behind me, but when I turned around no one was there. I continued walking, it was probably the wind. But someone grabbed my wrist and spun me around. I couldn't see their face, it was covered by the shade of their hoodie. I tried to escape, but whoever it was pinned me against the wall.
"Hello beautiful" A deep, husky voice said.
"What do you want with me?"
"I think you know what I want" This sick man grabbed me by the waist, still holding me against the wall. Thinking this was my best chance to escape, I wriggled about in his arms. But he was too strong. He did the one thing I was dreading most, he placed his lips firmly against mine. I rejected it and turned my head to the side,
"Oh come on babe, I wont hurt you" He grasped my jaw in one of his hands and forcefully kissed me again. I tried screaming into his mouth but all he did was force it open, his tongue roaming around in my mouth. Suddenly it all stopped and as I opened my eyes I could see a figure standing in front of me. He had punched the guy who was now lying lifelessly on the floor.
"Are you alright?"
"Um I guess"
"That guy is a creep, this is a dangerous place, you shouldn't be here on your own" I couldn't even see what this guy looked like, but I felt safe around him.
"But aren't you on your own?" I asked, he stepped closer to me, so I could see his face in the light. His rich brown curls floated around his head. His eyes were deep, I could have gotten lost in them if it wasn't for the fact the guy who had tried to abuse me started moving.
"Let me walk you home" Not wanting to go through it again I just nodded my head and let him walk me home. I notice his knuckles were bleeding, obviously from where he punched that guy. I remembered I had bandages and stuff in my bag from training.
"Let me sort out your hand"
"No its fine honestly"
"I have bandages in my bag, I can sort it out in no time"
I unzipped my bag and pulled out my bandages and anti-septic cream.
"Now this may sting" I spread some of the cream over his knuckles, but he didn't flinch.
"So what is a girl like you doing with bandages in her bag, walking home alone at this time of night?"
"I have just come back from gymnastics training"
"You are a gymnast? Cool!"
"I suppose, it keeps me out of the house" I gave him a smile, which he returned. All of his teeth were on show and I could see his dimples, which were adorable. I wrapped some bandage around his wrist and knuckles and we continued to walk. As we reached the path that lead to my house, I could hear them fighting again, like usual.
"Is everything okay in there?"
"Yeah I'm sure its fine"
"So, can I have your number, just in case you need me to save you again"
"I could have saved myself, consider yourself lucky that you didn't see me go ape on that guy"
"Okay, whatever you say"
I wrote down my number on a piece of paper I had in my bag, I passed it over to him.
"Bye, thanks for 'saving' me"
"You are very welcome, I will call you sometime"
And with that he walked down the pathway and out of sight. As I unlocked my front door the first thing I could see was my dad holding my mum at arms length screaming in her face. I loved my mum, but she knew what buttons to push when she wanted her own way. I shut the door, loud enough to distract them both. My dad picked up a beer bottle and made his way over to me
"How did your poxy little training session go then? Why do you even bother coming back here every night, we don't want you here" I ignored his harsh words and ran up the stairs into my room. I pulled off my leotard, it was long sleeved so my team mates couldn't see anything. I put on my pyjamas and lay down in bed. Was it wrong that all I could think about was that guy who saved me? I didn't even know his name.
