As I went to open the door I was thinking about what to say to the boys. I was nervous about what they would say but they had to find out sometime. I opened the door and scratched the back of my head in anxiety.
"Hi" I said to the three boys, my bestfriends.
"You okay mate?" Jaymi said to me
"I'm fine, I am going to introduce you to someone so please be nice. I mean it! She is a bit sensitive at the moment and it would be amazing if you could be friends okay?"
"Of course we will George!" JJ said
"So this person is a lady friend then" Josh said to me, smirking
"Shut up Josh, now follow me"
As I led the boys through to where Katie was, she stood up and smiled at them. Her smile was beautiful.
"Hi I'm Katie"
-Katie-
I tried to make a good first impression so I introduced myself rather than letting George do it. I smiled at them, in attempt to be friendly.
"Hi Katie! I am Josh"
"I'm Jaymi, lovely to meet you"
"And I am JJ"
"Hello! Its really nice to meet you all"
I looked at George and he smiled at me, so I smiled back. Bracing myself for what he was about to say.
"Guys, Katie is um, my g-girlfriend"
There jaws dropped, which made me nervous. I didn't know whether they were happy for us or annoyed with George. Which was why I was relieved when they all pulled us both into a group hug. For some reason we all sat down in a circle on the floor, as if he noticed my confusion Jaymi looked at me and said
"This is what we do all the time" He started laughing which led to everyone having a laughing fit.
"So how did you guys, you know, get together?" Josh asked, I gulped and looked down at the floor. I felt everyone's eyes staring at me and as I looked at George he was doing the same as me. The others exchanged glances between us both. I don't think I was ready to share my life story with people I had just met. I hadn't even told George everything yet.
"I'm going to go and get a drink, anyone want anything?" I stood up trying to change the subject, I made myself a cup of tea, and for some reason the boys wanted beer. I brought 4 cans of beer out of the fridge when I felt George put his hands on my hips from behind me.
"Babe, we are going to have to tell them sometime"
"I know, I just don't exactly feel comfortable telling people I have only just met, just make something up"
"Like what?"
I didn't mean to be, but I was angry. I tried to stop myself from shouting.
"You know what just tell them, I'm going to go out for a bit" I said to George trying not to sound angry, but it came across that way anyway. I grabbed my coat from the cupboard and opened the door.
"Babe come back, please"
"No just tell them, text me when you have finished and I will come back"
"Promise?"
"Promise"
I left the apartment and closed the door, a little louder than expected. I headed outside towards the park. I was glad George was telling them without me there. As I was thinking about everything someone stepped harshly in front of me, stopping me in my tracks.
"Oh hi Katie, I didn't see you there" I looked up at whoever said it and my heart started beating faster as I realised who it was.
-George-
Oh god how was I meant to tell the boys everything. Jaymi walked into the kitchen looking worried
"What just happened?"
"I need to tell you guys something"
I followed Jaymi back into the living room and sat back down where I was before.
"What's up mate?" Josh said the same expression on his face as Jaymi.
"The reason Katie left was because she didn't want to be here when I told you"
"Told us what?" JJ said finally speaking to me
I took a deep breath and told them everything,
"One night when I was coming home from our meeting I took a short cut down an alley. That was when I saw a guy abusing Katie so I pulled him away from her and then walked her home. There was shouting coming from inside so I asked for her number and left. As I was walking home I thought I should ring her so that's what I did. When she answered there was shouting down the phone so I ran to her house and she was sat on the pavement with all of her clothes. Her dad had kicked her out. Don't get mad at this part but I told her she could stay here. She told me everything, her dad is an alcoholic and ends up beating her. I suppose all the comforting just made me fall for her"
"Oh my god poor Katie!" Jaymi said covering his mouth with his hands, looking utterly sorry.
"But check you out, George to the rescue!" Josh said to me, making me smile
"Well now she has four of us to look after her" JJ said which gave me a bit of relief.
I got my phone out of my pocket and text Katie,
'Just told them, they said they will all look after you :) x'
I soon got a reply,
'Okay babe, walking home now x'
"She is on her way home now. I say watch a movie and stuff, then you guys have to leave because we are going out for dinner later"
"We have to watch I love you man, please" JJ said giving us all puppy dog eyes
"Ugh no JJ we always watch that" Josh said
"How about we see what Katie wants to watch when she gets back?" Jaymi said, he was so thoughtful, I am so lucky to have him as one of my bestfriends.
"I like that plan" I said
-Katie-
I was walking home with tears rolling down my cheeks, trying to cover the right side of my face so that George wouldn't see it, I knew he would though. As I walked up the steps to the apartment I was shaking I didn't want the other boys to see me like this. I carefully knocked on the door, and soon enough George opened the door smiling from ear to ear,
"Hey ba- oh my god what happened?"
