The sun beamed right into my sleepy eyes, waking me up from a dreadful but usual dream. Dreams of my past still haunt me but at the same time it feels good to see him as if I am right there feeling his existence, reliving it. The memories I have are still crystal clear, hard to forget. I’d prefer to just stay in my dreamland than to come back to reality.
The sun rays pulled me to life again. I struggled to open my eyes and found Janet’s pretty face resting, facing me. She looks more angelic while sleeping. I couldn’t control the smile I’ve been offering to her adorable face, I hugged her tight, so tight that I woke her up. Haha well, this style was much better than to almost shout for 15 minutes to wake her up.
“I know I am cute Rose, you should resist hugging me and give me break while I am sleeping.” Man, she’s got such a smart mouth. I’ve never seen any little creature so proud like her.
I looked at the clock its ten past seven. “Janet, 30 minutes and I want you both to be ready.” No, I am not always this rude. It’s my mood swing that doesn’t leave me.
Half an hour later Alice and Janet raced down the stairs and joined me on the dinning. Mom turned back smiling at us while making our breakfast in kitchen. When the whole family gets together there is this weird sensation of Daddy being missing. Except for a fact that he wasn’t quite a good fit for us. I don't know how we all would be in present, if he was here. A perfect family maybe. But C'mon, I don't want to be thinking about it. So yeah, in just 10 minutes my bus would be here like always, whereas mom drops Alice and Janet every day in her company's given car ‘Alto’. Mom wakes up everyday four hours before her job timings. She prepares the breakfast of our choice, waters the plants, gets ready and drops my sisters and then heads toward park for jogging until her job timings begin.
“I am done; I might get late now if I stay for a single more minute.” I said standing up and carried my bag pack as fast as I can. I stormed to the main door but realized our group buh-bye hug. This tradition is not coming from our grand families, it’s just how we express each other that we’re complete, that we can do it like we always have been so I ran back, had our family hug quickly, gave mom a peck on her cheeks and left.
“ROSE, ROSE, ROSE.” Not again Lucy. My best friend is a complete crack, c’mon girl who shouts someone’s name like that.
“Lucy, calm down. What’s the matter?” I stopped in the middle of the Hallway and dragged her to my locker, looking here and there, giving a quick check so no one can see us. I know it’s embarrassing when someone comes running towards you as if they saw a superstar in you and begs for an autograph, except in this case it’s not an autograph but her latest awaited break up story to be told.
“You read my texts?” I nod. “Guess what? Liam buzzed me at 5 in the morning and we’re back again. Oh my God, I am so much in love with him.” She whispered dancing her body just like a princess would do in her solo performance.
Okay so they’re back again. Liam is a fine good boy unlike other of his exes, I adore him the most. But why they broke up at first place. “What happened actually?” I asked her showing my uncertainty.
“Cora.” Oh this one word filled me with anger. Cora in our school is an ultimate whore. There wouldn’t be any hot guy, in school, she hasn’t slept with. Except for Liam, she is after.
“And you’re telling me Liam got drunk and slept in her company at midnight, then woke up at 4 and realized his mistake and called you at 5 in the morning apologizing?” I babbled furiously. This is Cora’s effect on me.
“HAHAHAHA OMG! Rose, no. You were absent yesterday when in the second class Dean called us. He coupled Cora with Liam for Prom. I couldn’t bear the thought of them dancing together so we had a real big fight and he broke up & said he just couldn't bear my accelerating insecurities. Then he realized his mistake and assured me he would talk to dean to shuffle partners.” Lucy giggled with excitement. I passed an honest smile and pointed to biology class and stepped to go in there when Lucy interrupted again.
“You being absent won’t stop you getting paired with a partner at prom. You’re strategy proved to be an epic fail.” I stopped in the middle of my step, my one leg still up in the air. I could almost feel how strong gravity is. Lucy is full of surprises; I never knew she can bring me a bad news too.
“What are you saying?” I faced her and questioned her unbelievingly.
“Eric is your partner. You have to spend 25 days practicing dancing with him.” She chuckled a little loud.
NO, this can’t be happening. Why can’t he leave me alone? He is everything a girl can ask for. That guy is handsome, rich and spoiled at the same time. But I never felt anything for him more than enmity and I am damn sure he suggested Dean my name. I just don’t like him; I am not being a hard catch why can’t he just get this.
“He is gone.” I growled marching towards class followed by Lucy who is excited.
He is right there sitting between four girls. One girl is offering him half eaten chocolate candy that she has just bitten. Urghhh disgusting! Four girls are already surrounding him and he chose me still. Is this something to be proud about because I find this irritating. Am I insane? Eric has noticed me.
“Whoa whoa! My princess is here. Give her some space Ladies.” Eric asked the girls while smirking at me.
I can’t stop the anger building in me. I raced to his bench. “Eric this is not going to happen…” but before I could finish Sir Richard, our biology teacher entered. The whole class rushed here and there to sit and I felt a hold on my wrist that pulled me to sit on the seat. It is Eric’s bench. I frowned at him and got rid of his hand.
“Eric, I…” but he did the two year old kid stunt, ‘finger on your lips’ to shut me up. I frowned again and concentrated on the subject, doing my best to avoid his touch he’s been trying to do with me every now and then. I saw Liam and Lucy whispering into each other ears and equally enjoying. Where’s the exit button of my life?
