Tyler's eyes fluttered open. He stared at the ceiling, emotionless, his mind erased to the point he would have been used to if he could remember. Slowly, he sat up. He whispered a daily spaach to himself: "You're Tyler Joseph: you're a cheerful student. You're... 16. You live with your grandfather and you lost your ability to remember in a car accident; nobody else was harmed." He rubbed his eyes, little bits and pieces flashing in his mind. "Your... you have a boyfriend. Since... since..." he took out his journal, flashing through pages. "Since two weeks. His name is Joshua William Dun but you call him Josh..."
Tyler got up and walked downstairs. He checked the date, it was a Sunday morning. He wrote down that the weather was wet, drizzle falling from the sky. The weather forecast from the TV echoed in, announcing thunderstorms and lots of clouds for the rest of the day; it gave him a terrible headache. He sat down in front of his grandfather, the only one he had a steady memory of. He didn't know if he ever had parents or siblings or even a grandmother, as a matter of fact. Whenever he asked his grandfather, he'd shrug it off.
He looked over at the old man who instantly flashed him a tired smile. "Good morning, my child." He whispered almost a little too softly for Tyler to hear. "Good morning, Grandpa. It's nice to see you." He smiled cheerfully, looking out the window; a memory of warm summer sun and his grandfather playing hide and seek flashed back into his mind. He put a spoon into his cereal, taking a few bites. "Have you checked your phone, Tyler? It buzzed quite a lot."
Tyler checked the phone that rested in its usual space, noticing several messages from his loved one. It made him smile. "Who is it?" his grandfather asked him gently, his eyes fixed with a smile onto Tyler. "My boyf- I mean Josh."His grandfather chuckled softly. "Listen, my child." "Did I already tell you? Why didn't I note it?" Tyler frowned before ending up laughing. "No, but I don't mind. He makes you happy, does he? As long as he does, it's okay." Tyler looked at his grandfather and the silence slowly became a little too awkward for him.
"So what's he saying?" asked the old man in a cheerful tone. "He... he asked if he can come over." "Can he?" his grandpa asked curiously. "You know that I don't mind, Tyler." Tyler nodded, slowly typing out a reply. "He can," Tyler breathed in. "I want to explain him what's going on with me, but I'm scared that he will leave me.""Wait, he doesn't know?" The old man straightened his back, raising a brow at his grandchild.
"I haven't found a right way to tell him. He's seen my journal and thinks I just write diary, and I really wanted to keep it that way. Grandpa, I'm scared that he'll leave me behind once he knows: I'm scared I will lose someone that makes me remember stuff."
"He makes you remember stuff?" His grandfather now seemed interested. "Did you tell Doctor Black?"
"I didn't have time to yet. But he makes me remember stuff; I can usually recall his first, sometimes even his full name. I know that we went to get... we went to get milkshakes lately! And he like Taco Bell and Burritos and I like Chalupas! He likes to play basketball and plays drums and his hair is a bright pink! His smile makes me melt and his eyes are so full of joy and determination. His hugs are warm and soft and always so very careful..."His grandfather just listened, smiling. He then got up and walked over, giving Tyler a quick pat on the head. "Listen, my child. I'm sure he will understand." The elderly man walked out, leaving Tyler perplexed. He checked his phone, sending Josh his adress. He then walked back into his room.

Tyler stood in front of his piano and the cork board just above it. He had pinned each date on it, each date he had had with Josh. It made him happy and so he'd play music about it: his ukulele was laying on his piano, music note pages scattered all over the floor. Some of them had smileys and emotions drawn onto them, others were completly ripped apart in frustration. Tyler sat down on his chair, looking through the well-lit room; there was no rain outside anymore, in fact, the sun was shining brightly. He bit his lip softly, suddenly realizing that maybe he didn't want to remember his past. But at the same time, he was curious: he wanted to see how everything would work out from now on.
