A/NSorry that it's not that long! I promise the next one will be super long and filled with intenseness, because of course....

Ainsley POV

My night was the most frightening night I have ever had. Not only did I walk down the most frightening street and had been the closest ever to the man or people who murdered my best friend, but I also held a heart in my hand. The one thing that I never thought I would ever do in my life. I know that it was just a pigs heart, that they had to take it out because of the fact that people need to eat. But the fact that it was ripped out of a body, that it once pumped life throughout a poor helpless animal left me scared for my own life. What if someone pulled out my heart? I bet they might someday. The problem that I face the most nowadays, is that these people can control us. Get us to do anything. We’re starting to think that they more powerful than we thought.

As we both start to wake from our continous slumber I wince from the light pouring in through the drapes. The suns up, the lights shine, but I still feel the worst from our night last night.  My phone buzzes. A text from Devon. I smile, it’s nice to know that she’s okay. I open the message that I have gotten and I read it over. I read it again and again, thinking it might have been a mistake or I might've misread it. But I read it clearly. Devon need help.

Help, get to my house immediately!

I turn to Caleb and shake her furiously. “Caleb, Caleb!” I shout to her hoping at some point she might respond. She moans and turns to me.

“What do you want from me?” She asks angry that I woke her up.

“Devon said she needs help. We have to go and help her!” From hearing that her eyes pop open. She jumps out of bed and grabs a coat and her keys and pulls me up to go to the truck with her. We both run down the cold stairs and out the house. We hop in the car and she places the keys in the ignition and as she tries to turn it on it makes a gurgle sound like it wants to start but it can’t.

“Come on Mater!” She says and kicks the car, hard. “OUCH! You worthless piece of crap! Why can’t you work when I need you to!” And as if right on queue it starts at her command. She makes a happy gurgling noise to show her excitment but still to show that she needs to get somewhere and if her car won't start then there is no helping her.

As we drive to her house we pass the street where we placed the box. It’s gone. Chills run up my spine. I can’t get my mind off of that night. I’m sure it was one of them that I caught a glimpse of in the distance. I’m sure that they were there, watching us. Our every move being surveyed. I want to know who they are, or even who they are working with.

As we take our last turn to Devon’s street I see her running outside with her pajama shirt unbuttoned showing her pink lace bra. Her hair messed into a tangle and behind her ran her step father just in his boxers, a sight that I never wanted to see. She walks down to the parking lot and stops at the end for us. Before we make it he grabs her and pulls her to the house. She tries to escape but she fails. As I’m in shock of what’s happening Caleb fumbles with her seat belt which seems to be stuck. He finally pulls her into the house and as he does he throws her onto the floor. My eyes wander to what might happen next as Caleb un-buckles and opens her door with a screech.

As Caleb runs and trips up I watch what’s happening on the inside to see what his motive is. I see him on top of Devon punching her, kissing her, undressing her. That’s not what fathers do!  I think to myself stupidly. As Caleb tries to pull him off of her he punches her in the face and she lands on her back, dazed and confused. I finally get the courage to get up and I un-buckle myself. I open the door  quickly and rush to  Devon's aid. As he pulls her lace panties down I kick him in the balls, he instantly falls over and holds them while screeching in pain.

I pull Caleb up from her spot, she rubs her bleeding jaw. I pull Devon up, I pick up her clothing too, I help her outside to the car, being extra careful with her but also hurrying. I pick her tiny body up and place her in the car.  I jump in beside her and Caleb jumps into the drivers seat last. I see a note taped to the dash board.

Distractions, Distractions. Better get home soon….

I read out loud so everyone can hear. Caleb had panic on her face.

“What do you think it means?” Caleb asked. She looks like she’s about to explode.

“I don’t know, but something tells me it’s not going to be good.” I say to her. My eyes feeling watery but keeping it in for everyone. Caleb starts to speed up, knowing that the police don’t care about the slight speed limit around here anymore.

We get to her house within three minutes. The door to their house wide open, I remember closing that. Caleb’s face goes pale. It looks like her heart just stopped. Blood drips from her cut as  everyone stays still know that what might happen next may not be pretty.

Caleb unbuckles her self and practically jumps out of the car, we follow her even though Ainsley isn’t wearing barely anything.  We don’t hear anything, the room is completely silent, which is unusual with Kat in the house. Caleb’s eyes shoot open. She knows exactly what happened. What that note meant and so do we.

They took Kat.

A/N ....Caleb will be out for blood.
