I was sat at a table in the back of the bar. In front of me was an almost full glass of beer. The smell of cigarettes lingered around me for some time. I hadn't known why I was at this particular bar.

Daniel always came here after work. He always said he needed to relax and coming here and drinking made all of his worries go away. I didn't believe him because there was little trust in our relationship. He would go to work, go to the bar, and then come home drunk out of his mind with different scents on his clothes. If I brought it up to him, he would ignore the question completely and get ready for work. Sometimes he didn't come home at all, and that worries me. But as time went on, I realized that he would never answer the question, nor would you ever tell me when he was coming home. I had stopped talking to him almost completely. I had even started sleeping in the spare bedroom and he didn't even notice, not once.

Maybe that's why I was here. To find out what he's been hiding. Maybe my curiosity is just getting the better of me. Or maybe it was the fact that Daniel was so secretive. I would go to work and constantly think about what he was doing at that very moment in time. I think it was about time that I broke things off with him...tonight.

Daniel walked in with a few people I hadn't seen before. They sat at one of the bigger tables. They men had in suits like it was a business meeting. I saw them pass a few things between each other. Daniel started to write something. I hadn't known what. Is this what he was doing every night after his so-called "work"?

"Kat? What are you doing here? You never go to bars." I looked up at the voice. It was my friend, Delilah. I trusted Delilah more than anyone, besides my family. Delilah and I had known each other since second grade. She once told me that she was in a gang, but said if I ever knew, I would probably tell Daniel.

"Oh, I just came here for a drink. What are you doing here?" I lied. That was probably the first time I have ever lied to her. She put her drink down and sat down. She looked at me. She had probably noticed the bags under my eyes and how messy my hair had been. I hadn't been getting enough sleep these days.

"I know you're lying. I won't ask again, don't worry. I have a meeting with my boss and I decided to get a drink before it. How is everything going back at the apartment with Daniel?" The apartment I no longer wanted to stay at. I just pointed behind her. She looked back and then shook her head. I had a feeling she knew what was going on.

"He won't tell me anything anymore. He dodges my questions and doesn't even notice that I don't sleep with him in the same room. Delilah, I want to break up with him." Delilah pushed my glass of beer away from us and looked at me, with a small smile.

"Break up with him and come stay with me. We'll go to the apartment and pack all of your things. You aren't happy with Daniel, and I'm determined to make you happy." I have her a small smile and nodded. She was right. If I wasn't happy there, I would be happy elsewhere.

We stood up and started walking towards the door. We did our best to sneak by Daniel and the others. As we got to her car, something hit me. Delilah had a meeting with her boss and I had a feeling that she couldn't miss it.

"Wait. You have a meeting!" Delilah looked at me and smiled. We both got into her car and she let out a smile laugh. I gave her a confused look.

"My boss will understand. He knows how important my best friend is. Besides, I already texted him and told him I was helping you with your Daniel breakup issue. Now, put your seatbelt on so I can drive." I rolled my eyes and shook my head. Was this really happening right now? Was I about to leave Daniel and explore the world?

Delilah started the car and began driving to the apartment. I couldn't wait to leave. Delilah and I had always wanted to live together, but when Daniel asked me to move in, that dream had ended. Delilah had found an apartment a few blocks away from Daniel's. She said it was just in Daniel and I had gotten into a fight and I needed somewhere to crash for the night.
