"Relax and let me do the talking." I was outside of the restaurant with No Name. I was nervous for this evening's conversation. I had no idea what was bound to come up. Maybe something from the night Daniel hung out with No Name. Or maybe something from this morning when I interrupted them all. I didn't even look at No Name when he told me to relax. I I should relax before I make myself even more nervous and say something stupid. I just couldn't bring myself to it.
"What if I do something I will regret?" No Name placed his hand on my arm and gave it a light squeeze. A squeeze of reassurance that so desperately needed at this very moment in time. I took a deep breath and finally made eye contact with them. I felt a little better. But who knows? That feeling could be gone as soon as I see Daniel or that girl he was with this morning.
"I'm sitting next to you. Grab my hand if you need reassurance or you don't want to talk to the asshole sitting at the table. I'll do the talking for you, even if he starts acting like a pain in the ass." I giggled a bit and No Name smiled. I looked back at him and realized that he was going to help me quite a lot tonight with Daniel here.
"Let's go inside. It's now or never with that guy." No Name wrapped his arm around my waist and we walked inside of Bouley with a smile on both of our faces.
As we walked by each of the tables, I grew less and less confident. I took another deep breath when I saw Daniel and a girl. It must have been the same girl from earlier this morning. Delilah was sat at the end of the table, with a frown on her face. No Name and I sat down in our chairs. The air filled with an awkward silence. Someone cleared their throat and we all put a fake smile on our faces.
"Welcome to Bouley's. What would you guys like to drink?" The waitress stood before us with a big smile on her face. I didn't know what I wanted, but I was prepared to order a water.
"Two glasses of sparkling water for me and my girl." I looked at Daniel and then at the girl. At least she gets called my girl unlike I did.
"I'll have a glass of the La Fleur." Classic Delilah. A drink so she can get through this stressful conversation and not have to deal with Daniel's mouth. No Name looks at me and gives my hand a squeeze. I hadn't even realized my hand was intertwined with his. I felt like he had an idea brewing.
"Two glasses of your Macallan Whisky, the 18-year-old one, please, for me and my favorite girl." I smiled. No Name squeezed my hand. I glanced at the price. I wasn't about to let him pay that much for a drink for me. I was about to ask for water instead, but the waitress beat me to talking.
"I will be back with your drinks." The waitress walked away. No Name looked at me. I looked at Daniel and noticed a frown on his face. Though, his "girl" didn't seem to notice his frown. She just kept looking down at the menu. Delilah's mouth was open just a bit. I could feel my heart pounding against my chest. I had a feeling I would have to explain this to Delilah later instead of in the restaurant bathroom.
"How long have you two been dating?" I could hear the slight jealousness and annoyance in Daniel's voice. I liked No Name's plan, but another part of me wished he would have told me before we walked in here. Maybe he decided to do it for the sake of me being single while Daniel brought someone with him.
"A few days, I would say. I've known Kat almost all of her life. You would know who I am if you actually loved her." Daniel scoffs and I look at the menu, avoiding eye contact and especially this conversation. I was staying out of it. Though, in the back of mind, I feel like I should be talking and making this seem as real as it could get. "How about you and...?"
"Jasmine. Her name is Jasmine and we've been dating for some time She couldn't wait to move in today." Truthfully, I didn't feel jealous. My heart didn't break at the sentence. I was frustrated. I began to compare my old relationship with Daniel to his and Jasmine's. She had just moved in today. They don't even look like a couple, in my opinion. If she moved in today, that meant they either are faking this relationship or have known each other for a really long time. I never met Jasmine before so I wouldn't really know.
