Four hours.

It had been four hours since Sawyer put Katherine into her deep sleep. She laid on the hotel bed lifeless, surrounded by complete darkness, except for the nightstand lamp I had turned on. I had the blinds closed and almost every electronic device in the room off. My phone stayed on and so did my laptop. I needed those two just in case.

I glanced down at my watch. It was nearing six in the afternoon. I hadn't eaten since we got here. I just needed her to wake up. I needed to explain things to her but I'm afraid of how she'll react. I picked up her necklace and rubbed my fingers against it. I let it go and stared back at the ceiling. It was different with Katherine. Katherine was innocent; she did not know about the gang and how dangerous we really are. Delilah never told her and I thought Delilah would tell her almost everything.

When I showed up at Delilah's apartment, I was expecting to see only Delilah, waiting to give her her next job. Why did she leave the apartment that night knowing that I was going to show up? I guess I didn't really think that far ahead. I could have called her right then and there but I didn't. Instead, I met her roommate. Daniel did briefly talk about her but he didn't seem like he loved her at all. He acted as if Katherine was his sister or some sort of roommate that would be leaving the apartment soon.

I heard a knock on the door. I slid off of the bed and walked towards the door. I peaked outside of the peephole and saw Liam and Nathan. I had told the other guys to stay in their rooms while Katherine's friends came to visit. I also had to go speak with Sawyer still but I was not about to leave Katherine alone in this room confused if she woke up. I opened the door. Liam pushed by me and walked over to Katherine.

"Sorry about him. They've known each other since they were six and I don't think he's handling this very well. If you need to leave for a few minutes, I understand. I'll stay here with them. You seem a little tired anyway. They have coffee downstairs." Nathan turned towards me a little bit. He was shorter than me by two or three inches.

"Yeah, I'll go get some coffee. Can you please call or text me if she wakes up? Oh, and if you two need anything, text me too. It's on me." Nathan nodded with a smile. I wrote down my number on a piece of paper that was on the desk. I handed it to him and he walked away.

I grabbed one of the room keys and walked out, closing the door behind me. I walked down the hall. I slid my key card into my pocket and pressed the elevator button. When it opened, I saw Sawyer standing in there. He tried to walk out but I grabbed him to make sure he stayed inside with me. He was not leaving without giving me an explanation as to why Katherine was upstairs laying in that bed in a deep sleep. I needed answers.

"Boss, hey."

The elevator doors opened to the lobby floor. I guided Sawyer to where the coffee machine was at. We stood there next to each other as I got my coffee. I put in two sugars and stirred it a little bit. I then guided Sawyer to two chairs that sat next to each other. A television was on a few feet away, playing the news. I gave Sawyer a smile as we sat down.

"I don't want to come off as being mean or anything but why the hell is Katherine laying in that bed up there in a deep sleep," I whispered a little bit, making sure we didn't attract any stares. I glanced around the area quickly before looking back at Sawyer.

"I, well, you see. I kind of told Katherine about my ex and all. Not the fully details but what how I still loved him. When the glass or whatever broke inside of the house, I knew that meant that we had to leave quickly. I also knew that that meant that there were some microphones hidden. I was just upset at the fact that whoever was listening could use what I said against me in some cruel way. Then, in the car, she started asking those questions and I my switched flipped almost instantly. It was like I couldn't control myself."
