Emma's P.O.V.

Sarah's party on Saturday went on without any problems. Except for the occasional kid making a mess. Turns out having a backyard, playground, and access to a lake makes you a pretty popular kid with your classmates.

For the most part, everyone enjoyed themselves. Jacob and Lizzie pretty much ran off once the kids went to the playground. Michael, being the overprotective soon-to-be father kept his eye on all the kids, making sure no one was bullied, all while watching Jamie. Some parents found it odd that we were young parents who were still in high school.

But that didn't stop the moms from cooing at Jamie and her already showing bump. Giving her tips on what to do and scolding Michael for things he hasn't done yet. Some parents even brought their teenage kids, or they brought themselves.

Apparently, someone told the school that we have a pretty sick game room.

Even with everything going as planned, the day didn't feel right. And I wasn't the only one who felt this way.

She was smiling and playing with her friends, but I could tell it was all forced. I know, because I was faking it as well.

Sarah wanted him here. I wanted him here, but I couldn't allow it. I wouldn't.

That night, Sarah's smile was fading. She couldn't keep it up anymore, neither could I. When it was her bedtime, I tucked her in and gave her one last gift.

~*Flashback*~

Laying in bed, next to Sarah, I finally got a chance to talk to her.

"So, did you have fun at your party?"

"Yeah, thanks mommy." She gave me a timid smile.

"What's wrong?"

Sarah looked away.

"Sarah?"

"I hoped I could see JuJu today." She said not meeting my eyes.

I sighed. "I'm sorry you couldn't see him Sarah. But you know how it is."

"I know." She mumbled.

It broke my heart seeing her like this. And I knew there was one thing that could cheer her up, even though I didn't want to give it to her.

Getting off the bed, I made my way to her door. "I'll be right back."

When I came back to her bedroom, I closed the door and sat at the edge of her bed.

"This if for you."

I handed her the box and card. Sarah's eyes were already sparkling from the fact that she had one more gift to open.

She read the card first. For the first time, Sarah was showing a genuine smile. She then gave me the card to read.

Sarah,

I wish I could have seen you for your birthday, but I'm not able to.

But that didn't stop me from getting you a present. Know I thought of you
