Chapter 16b: It's Like Breaking Your Own Heart

With that, I run into the forest. I keep going until I get to the stream that splits the forest in two. I look ahead to the other half and see him come out of hiding.

"You made it."

He smiles

"Don't look too happy, Jason. I only came here to talk." I said sternly.

"Well aren't you going to cross the stream?"

I cross my arms over my chest and raise my eyebrow. "No."

"Emma, I'm not going to talk to you over the water bank."

"Then you cross."

Jason looks upset at my refusal, but he decides not to argue with me about this. He knows that at any moment I can change my mind and leave. And I will if it goes too far.

He goes a few feet back and runs to the water. He thrusts himself into the air as he reaches the side of the bank. He lands both feet firmly on the ground a couple feet to my left.

As he straightens his back, a smirk appears on his face. I never flinched in the whole ordeal and he's assuming I'm impressed by his jump. All because he did it in his human form.

I let out a huff.

"Now that you've shown me your impressive jumping skills." I say sarcastically. "Can we get this over with?"

Jason frowns realizing that his little stunt sparked no interest in me whatsoever. Just because he's an amazing kisser doesn't mean I'm going to swoon over every one of his skills.

For five minutes neither one of us spoke. I looked at Jason, waiting for him to say something.

"Do you want to start?" He speaks up.

"Why? You're the one that wanted to talk." I say with attitude.

"Why are you snapping at me? What did I do to piss you off?" He asks innocently.

My eyebrows go up into the sky as my jaw falls to the floor.

"You're wondering why I'm mad at you? Are you serious?"

"Let's go over the list shall we?"

I start counting my fingers as I say each thing that Jason did you make me angry.

"One. You came into my life."

"You tried to order my members, in front of me, like I wasn't even there."

"You're a criminal and you've killed people."

"You deal drugs in the city."

"Oh! And let's not forget, you've endangered SARAH'S LIFE!" I put extra emphasis on the last part.

"I never did anything to hurt her!" Jason said accusingly.

"Never-- Every time you're around her, you put her in danger!"

"When you attacked Jackson the day we were talking at the town square!"

"When we fought in my backyard!!"

"And the night you were with her after the barbecue!!!"

I can hear my voice getting louder as I remember each of the days. My eyes are halfway to become completely ice-green.

"We were just playing! How was that causing her harm?!"

Jason's eyes turn ice-blue.

"Michael or Jacob could've seen you! And Michael doesn't like you! He would have gone after you without hesitation. And knowing you, you would have fought him and possibly hurt Sarah."
