VI
Gaebryil drove me to his house and walked me to the kitchen where he got some food and was actually kind enough to offer me some.
“No thank you,” I replied in what I hoped passed as a kind tone. And then my stomach decided to tell him it wanted food.
“What do you want?” he asked in a surprisingly patient tone.
“I’ll take a salad if you have it,” I replied in defeat.
“We do,” was all he said.
When he got his food and gave me a very nice salad he walked to a staircase and started climbing it. I followed, knowing I would get yelled at if I did not. We climbed all the way to top where his door was. It had a cobra knocker on it. How odd, I thought. He opened his door and we went inside. Inside there was a white panther laying across his bed. At first I thought it was stuffed, but as soon as Gaebryil said its name, Fang, it popped up and purred at him.
“Don’t be afraid,” Gaebryil told me. “He is the most docile animal I own.”
“Most docile?” I asked. “As in there are more?”
“Does that bother you?” he asked with a grin on his face, his bright eyes sparkling.
“No,” I lied quickly. He just laughed.
“Don’t touch the cobra on the tree then,” he said with a smirk.
“Ok. But back to business. You wanted to talk to me?”
“Right.” All traces of humor was gone now. “Tell me about the incident that happened last night.”
I took a deep breath and started speaking. “I walked into my house last night, and the door was unlocked with all of the lights off. I thought my mother had come home and went to bed. I was about to turn on the lights when a red light distracted me. I looked towards it and two red beams were glaring at me. And then I realized that they were eyes.
“I turned around and flipped on the light and turned back towards the eyes but they were gone and no one was there. I could not sleep at all last night in fear that they would come back.”
Gaebryil had his head bowed and eyes closed with anger on his face. He turned his face towards me and then opened his eyes. What I saw in them made me run to the door in fear. A cobra knocker was on this side as well only this one was gold and not black. The cobra lurched up and hissed and made a striking motion towards me. I backed up and ran right into his master. I turned around and screamed. His eyes were black with glowing blue slits for pupils…just like the cobras eyes were.
He grabbed me then and kept me from running. I started crying then, thinking he was going to kill me. His body went stiff and then he let me go. I turned around and saw his eyes go white and him fall… right to the ground and hit his head so hard it should have killed him. I ran to him and held his head trying to wake him up.
“You will fall when she pushes you over your wall,” he said in a weird voice. “She will die if you do not take the position that was given to you.”
Right then Samyal ran into the room and took one look at us and knelt to hear Gaebryil.
“She will fall if you give her the chance. You are her Daeveon and she is your savior. Never forget…never forget…never forget…” his voice trailed off and his closed slowly. His body went limp and his head rolled in my arms.
“What the hell just happened?” I asked in a quiet voice.
“He had a vision, and that always wears him out. When did it start?”
“Right after I told him what happened last night…well after he got pissed and scared the living hell out of me.”
“Well that explains it. He only has his visions when he does not know what to do about something and he scared for himself, which is never, or he is scared for someone else.”
“Oh,” I said quietly. “When will he recover?” I was looking at him as I said this.
“In a few minutes. Which means you need to move. He does not like to be asleep around other people. He will jump up and probably throw a few punches before he remembers what happened.”
Just after Samyal said that, Gaebryil moved just a little bit. And then his eyes flew open and he turned his head to look at me. I looked at him and he just looked at me. He then turned his head and looked at Samyal.
“Welcome back, bro,” Samyal said with a smile. That boy never stopped smiling it seemed.
“Water,” Gaebryil whispered.
I started getting up but Samyal stopped me. He pointed at Gaebryil, who had his eyes closed, just lying in my arms. His chest was slick with sweat and his hair was damp. His breathing was slightly heavy and he looked exhausted.
“Here’s the water, bro. Do you want to rest and be left alone for a while?”
“Yeah,” was the hoarse reply.
After he drank the water, we helped him onto his bed, which was no easy task since the guy was huge and must have weighed three hundred pounds.
When me and Samyal had gotten back down the stairs to the kitchen area he asked me what the beginning of the vision was. I told him what Gaebryil had said and then asked what it meant.
“I cannot tell you that, because he may not want me to. Plus, I can only guess who it was about. Ask him sometime. He may tell you.”
