Riding in the car with Samyal was terrifying. He sped out of the school parking lot at forty miles an hour right after we got in. the engine purred like a stroked cat and seemed to like the speed as well, if that was possible. It had taken us half an hour to get to the house we were at now. And he had been going almost two hundred miles an hour.

The house were at now, if it could even be called a house, looked like the castle someone like Dracula would live in. The house was huge and foreboding and all the windows had black curtains drawn in front of them.

“Is this where you live?” I asked Samyal.

“Yup,” he said with a smile. “It was the only house we found that was big enough for all of us, and since we all wanted to be in the same place, Orrone thought it would be a good place. So far it has been.”

“Who is Orrone?”

“He is the Teacher and Trainer,” was the answer, and it left me even more confused. But I did not push the matter.

“How many of you are there?” I decided to ask instead.

“Fifty,” he said in a tone that sounded like sorrow. “Most of us are not pure-bloods. The only ones that are have blue eyes.” He looked at me then, as if to emphasize the point that his eyes were a bright jade green. So that meant that Gaebryil was a pure-blood. I did not know what to think about that.

We finally made it through the huge front yard to the door. The door, which was actually two being French doors, were black and had carvings of dragons on each that blew rings of fire that turned into the knockers. They were very beautiful and very finely made.

“This,” Samyal said as he opened the door, “Is our home. Welcome.” He walked in and I followed slightly hesitantly. The doorway led to a grand staircase and a huge living room that they had modified to fit their lifestyle. It had three huge flat screen TVs and X-Boxes connected to each of them. About ten boys were there playing video games, but paused them to look at who had entered their home. They eyed us for a little while before going back to their games and becoming loud. I noticed that the neither the twins nor Gaebryil was among them.

“Why don’t we hit the kitchen?” Samyal suggested then. “I don’t know about you but I am absolutely starving.” I followed him to a huge kitchen that had four stovetop ovens and six microwaves along with three dishwashers.

“Dang,” I whispered. He must have heard me because he smiled then. As we got farther in the kitchen I noticed that two guys were in there shoving each other out of the way of one of the five refrigerators.

“Seriously,” Samyal said in an annoyed tone. “We go through this every meal time. There are five refrigerators, so one of you can go to a different one. They all have the same stuff in ‘em.” With that, the heads of the twins popped up over the huge door.

“Hey!” they said at the same time. “You are in our Spanish class!” They said that at the same time as well.

“That’s just a little bit creepy,” I said with a giggle.

“Yeah, we get that all the time,” Arryk said. As he looked at me, I noticed that he had a different shade of green eyes than Samyal did. I then looked at Darryk. His eyes were the exact color of his brother’s.

“So what are you doing here?” they asked me.

“Here with him,” I said pointing to Samyal.

“Ooh!” they said together. “You two got anything going on you want to share?” Arryk said with a wink.

“Not really,” came the answer from Samyal.

“Well you’re no fun,” Darryl chipped in, and then they turned back to the fridge and started fighting about who gets to look first again.

“They never stop that, you know,” Samyal said when I laughed.

Next we went up the first flight of stairs to meet Orrone. When we got the huge wooden door, we stopped. Two people were having a very intent conversation. I recognized one of the voices but not the other.

“I am sorry, but that is a no-go,” said the voice I did not know.

“Well then something has to be done!” came Gaebryil’s voice.

“I am sorry, but there is nothing that I can do. You will just have to tough it out.”

“I cannot keep doing this! I don’t know what it is, but it has to change!”

“You are not fluent in Spanish like the other boys are. The only languages you speak are English and Cobryan. You need to speak more languages, and that is the only time that the class is available.”

At the mention of the word Cobryan, I gave Samyal a questioning look. He shook his head and mouthed later. And then the rest of the conversation sank in. He was trying to get out of Spanish class. But why? Because of me? The next words Gaebryil said confirmed it.

“I cannot do it anymore. She is there. I cannot go anymore. She is just too much of a distraction.”

The rest of their conversation was switched over into their language, but it did not seem very happy. At one point, Samyal looked at me with a look of shock, and then pity.

“What is it?” I whispered to him.

“Follow me,” he whispered back.

We went back to the main staircase and went up the rest of it, where many doors were. Samyal stopped by the door that had the number 710 on it.

“Welcome to my room,” he said as he opened the door. “I will answer all of your questions here. Well, most of them. Some of them Gaebryil will have to answer for you, if he ever does, because I do not know some stuff.”

“Ok,” I said slowly. “What does Cobryan mean?”

“It is the name of our language. Gaebryil will have to answer any other stuff about it. It’s kind of more his secret than anything.” He motioned for me to continue.

“Ok, what did he and the other person in that room talk about when they switched languages?”

“That is information that is not mine, but his. Therefore, you must ask him.”

“Why does he hate me so much?” I whispered while looking down.

“That is what they talked about in the Old Language. Again, you will have to ask him.”

Just then, there was a loud banging on the door. “SAMYAL GET YOUR MOTHER FUCKING BITCH ASS OUT HERE RIGHT NOW!” Gaebryil did not sound happy.

“Excuse me,” Samyal said to me as he walked to the door. “Yes, Gaebryil?”

“We need to talk. Now.”
