I smile at Rhodes as I walk into the staffroom and go to my locker. As I start grabbing my things he says, "How was your day?"

I smile and say, "Tiring but good. Now that I don't have to worry about what'll happen when I get home, work is a lot easier. I am thankful that tomorrow is Sunday though and I get the day off."

Rhodes nods and says, "Me too. But speaking of Sunday, I was thinking that we should start getting out of the apartment together on Sundays to start building more of a friendship. I feel like as of right now I was a safe place to turn to and now you don't want to be an inconvenience so you keep to yourself but I don't want it to be that way."

I nod and say, "That sounds like a great idea. Let's do it."

Rhodes smiles and then we grab our things and leave. When we reach the parking lot he says, "See you at the apartment."

I nod and then we go our separate ways. Once I'm in my car I look at my phone and see that I missed a call from Jamie. I dial him back and he quickly answers. We do our usual greetings and then he says, "How was your week?"

"It was good. Work went well and it was nice not to have to worry about the abuse when I went home for the night."

Jamie sighs and says, "I bet. I can't believe that nobody here at home noticed those warning signs. We're your family and we let you down because we should've seen them."

I chuckle and say, "Don't blame yourself Jamie. I purposely hid it from everyone I was around."

He sighs and says, "Still. Also, how's that guy that you moved in with? Connor, right?"

I nod and say, "Yea, he's good. Because I've really kept to myself these last two weeks he suggested that we do something every Sunday on our day's off to build more of a friendship."

Jamie and I talk for a few more minutes and then he informs me that Mom has called him for supper so we say goodbye and I hang up. I then start my car and begin my drive to Rhodes' apartment.
