Chapter 15: Rooftop conversations

I climbed out my window and onto the roof, seeing Ruby sitting there, hugging her knees, and starring at the sunset. She looked like something was seriously bothering her. I pulled myself up and walked across the tiles sitting next to her and having my feet hang off the side. The view from here was the courtyard, and it outstretched to revel the rest of the school, and the trail behind it.

"What's wrong Red?".

She took a deep breath, and buried herself further into her knees, and shook a little.

"Hey hey, what's wrong?".

I inched towards her and wrapped arms around her, which caused her to fully start crying on my chest. I was alittle shocked at first, but I quickly pulled her closer, trying my best to make her know she was safe.

"It's alright red, everything is going to be fine".

"How do you know?".

"Because I just do".

She pushed off me alittle, and looked directly into my eyes.

"How can you be so sure?".

"Because I just am".

She looked away, and her voice began to stutter, as if almost not wanting to ask her question.

"(Y/n) do you like Weiss?".

"Hahahahahah! Gross! No of course not. I mean, she is a nice girl I guess, but I don't. She isn't my type, besides Carth already called dibs".

She slowly turned back to me and said "really? Why do you spend so much time with her?".

I bit my lip and looked away, not sure how to answer this. Do I just straight up tell her who I am? What if that changes things? What if this is what is going to ruin our friendship?

"(Y/n)?"

"It's because she found out something about me, something that only her, Ospin, and Mojec know".

She was dead silent, and slowly reached her hand to my face, and pulled it towards her, instead of being off to the side. I reach my hand out and pick her hand off my face, but still held it as I continued.

"There is a reason Mojec is here. It's because the night before you meet him..... I saved him from the white fang,. And brought him here. Ospin said I would train him for signal, and he would be enrolled next semester. So me and Weiss are responsible for training him".

"That's not so bad, why is it so hard to tell me? You are a hero for saving him" she said, a quite optimism in her voice, by also concern.

I couldn't look her in the eye, and she put her hand once again on my face, but mine was still locked to her.

"He wasn't save through conventional means. He was saved when I...." I paused, not able to continue that sentence on one breath, from both exhaustion, and hesitation.

"When you what?".

I sighed, and hung my head down and continuing what I was saying.

"I saved him while one of the old nightclubs was being blown up".

"How could you have been there?".

I slowly pushed her away, much to her dismay, and stood up, and started to walk away a bit.

"(Y/n) you ca-".

I held my hand up for her to stop, and once again took a deep, deep breath.

"Here goes nothing...." I whispered, pulling out the color module for the anti fang costume.

I slapped in on and my armor began to turn colors, and he symbol had a soft glow to my chest, as I slowly turned around to face Ruby.

"This, this is how I saved Mojec. I was fighting off Roman and the white fang, and mojec was just here. He was on my ship, scared and helpless, and I brought him back here. I'm the anti fang. You can't hate me no-."

She used her semblance to speed towards me, and tackled me with a hug, the complete opposite of what I thought was going to happen.

"You save lives (Y/n) why would that be bad?".

"I take away lives though".

"Only the lives of the bad guys, and you are one of the most famous bounty hunters like ever! You stopped so many robbery, muggings and attacks! You are awesome!".

I felt myself shed a tear of joy, and nearly shake, which caused a slight laugh from Ruby, who asked why I was crying.

"I don't want to lose you. And you don't hate me for what I have never willingly told anyone. And I mena Anyone. Everyone who knows about it finds out through detective work. You are the first person in history to ever be told about my secret world through my own accord, and I'm just happy you don't hate me".

"I would never hate you".

"And why is that?".

"Be I know you would never give me a reason to".

We simply stood there a whole, her still hugging me, just the both of us staring at the sunsets as we were now sitting on the top of the roof, enjoying the peace and quiet.

"Ruby, I think need more moments like this".

"How about whenever one of us is upset, we come to the roof? That will work. It will be like a code between us".

"What do you want to call it?".

"Uh, I don't know.... you have any ideas?".

"Uh, battleship code?" I thought, remembering the ship name Weiss and Carth made me and Ruby, which annoyed the everliving hell out of me earlier.

"Sure, that sounds good" she said, right before her scroll buzzed, and she turned back to her room.

"Hey, (Y/n) I got to go...." she started, already turning back.

"Don't you want to watch the sunset?".

"There is no sunset anymore. It's gone".

"Uh, the moon then?".

She smirked, and said "sure, by only for a little bit".

I smiled, and we both sat down, just simply looking towards the sky, and the broken moon.

"Hey it's my grades. Get it? Because the moon is broken, like my grades?" She said, smiling, and putting her head on my shoulder.

"Yes Red, yes I do...".

I knew right then and there, what was happening here was more then simply her thinking what I do is cool. Beyond her not thinking badly on me being the anti fang. This was when I realized something. I realized that I was completely falling for this girl, and I was falling hard, and fast. And maybe if I get lucky, she will to....
