Prologue got deleted, so I wrote a new one...

"Sage? Sage honey will you come down?" My mum calls out to me. "I've got something to tell you, hurry down dear."
"Coming!" I yell. I put my laptop on the bed and sprint down the stairs.
"What's up?" My mum looks so pale. "Are you feeling alright?" I ask her and take a seat next to her on the breakfast counter.
"Honey your father called,"
"Who now?" I joke.
My 'dad' broke my heart way before any boy had the chance to.
"You'll be visiting him." Never in my 19 years of life did I hear something so wrong.
"Yeah no I'm not meeting the guy that crushed your heart and doesn't have the balls to raise his daughter." I say.
"Sage listen to me dear-"
"Mum I don't understand, why do I need to visit him?"
"Go pack your clothes, all your questions will eventually be answered."
"I'm not going to meet him-" she storms up to my room. I follow her. "Mum what you doing?!" She gets my luggages out fills them with clothes.
"Let go!" I take the clothes off her and chuck it to the other side.
"Sage try to understand! I don't have a choice and nor do you, please just listen to me. And go!" She holds on to my hands.
There's a momment of silence.
"Mum, I know I can be a handful, I know right now I'm lounging around the house but I promise you I'll get back into uni, I know I didn't make you proud but please mum don't give up on me..."
Tears start to trickle.
My mum gasps. "Oh no sweetheart!" She hugs me. "It'll never be that, I am so proud of you Sage Evelyn, you grew up and I am the most blessed to be your mother. But the time has now come honey. You have to go to him, he won't hurt you. I promise, don't be scared."
Growing up without a father is hard, but it isn't that hard to do when I have an amazing mother who plays both role fantastically.
"Me scared? Yeah right!"
That moment when you realise growing up without a father... made you stronger.
