The next evening Katie, Josh, and Michael prepared for their departure. Once they were all set Morgana came up to them and informed them that Nebula's duties as queen of the Earth fairies put her on a tight schedule. Nebula wouldn't be able to be there to support them on their mission.
"So no backup, huh?" Josh said as he stepped into the starlit backyard with his sister and Michael following behind him. "That's just great."
Katie then took her phone out and calculated how long it would take to fly to their destination. Much to her surprise and delight, it would only take around four or five hours to reach Hawaii by flight.
"Here. You'll probably need this."
They turned around and saw Morgana come outside with a large tote bag in one hand. She handed it to Josh before asking a favor from Katie, and the young fairy politely obliged.
"Why do you need this?" She asked, giving Morgana the small, multicolored spherical-shaped crystal she had just materialized.
Without giving an answer, Morgana summoned a tiny white ball of energy in her hand and merged it into the crystal. She then handed it back to Katie. "It's a pre-recorded, holographic message. Don't lose it. You'll need to show to Natalia if you ever want to get her help."
Despite the fact that she still had questions, Katie shoved it into her pocket.
"Wait, are you not coming with us?" Michael asked Morgana.
She shook her head. "I do have a husband, and I can't leave him all alone while he's fully aware that I'm on a potentially dangerous mission. I can't leave him while Roxy isn't here with us."
Michael nodded in understanding, as did the twins.
"Alright. We're off, then," Josh said and summoned a crystal hoverboard for Michael.
"Enchantix!" Katie called out.
Instantly she was surrounded by a vast, glittering lavender-colored space with music going on in the background. With a shimmer of sparks the clothes on her body vanished and her hair grew in length. As she raised her arms, silver gloves appeared on her hands that went halfway up her upper arms. A dazzling lavender crop top and a matching skirt appeared on her body with barefoot sandals to go with it. And finally, a pair of big, beautiful fairy wings appeared on her back to complete the whole ensemble. She struck a pose before her transformation ended.
After completing her transformation Katie flew into the air and beckoned for her companions to follow. They did so and waited as Katie used her phone to bring up the direction that Hawaii was in. Once she had that figured out she put her phone away and the three took off into the evening sky, but not before waving goodbye to the former fairy queen, who waved back at them with a smile.
"Farewell and good luck!" She called out to them.
Katie, Josh, and Michael cruised through the sky together, just like they did on their arrival in Gardenia. But now they were flying out of Gardenia to continue their mission, and potentially complete it. Now they were nearing Gardenia's coastline, and the ocean was clear in sight.
"You ready guys?" Michael asked. "We have a long flight ahead of us."
"I'm ready," Katie replied.
"Hold on a sec," Josh stopped in his tracks and opened the bag Morgana had handed him. "I wanna see what's in here . . . Oh, it's food."
"Well that's handy," Katie remarked.
Josh levitated the bag and then summoned a crystal sphere around it and had it float close by him. That way he wouldn't have to hold it the whole time. "Alright, now I'm ready."
"Then let's move," Michael said as he took off towards the ocean.
Soon enough all three of them had nothing but water underneath them as they flew onward. After a while they could no longer see the city in which they had just left, and all there was was blue sky and stars sitting on the horizon.
"Am I seriously gonna have to stand up for five hours?" Michael asked, a bit annoyed. "Can I have, like, a flying car or something?"
To his surprise, Katie stopped in her tracks and closed her eyes. Then she aimed her hands Michael's board and instantly it enlarged. It also now had a seat, short walls around it, and a steering wheel. At first he was surprised when this happened, but then he laughed out loud and thanked Katie over and over again.
"I was being sarcastic!" He chuckled in delight. "But never mind. This is way cool!"
He stepped on the "gas" and instantly accelerated.
"What the-hey I want one too." Josh crossed his arms at his sister.
"You can fly. You don't need one," Katie replied to him and flew after Michael.
Josh simply sighed.
They continued their flight for about two more hours. It was then they started to feel hungry, and Josh grabbed the bag of food, dug in it and handed them each a small bag of M&M's. They were all happy at this and remarked that Morgana had good taste. Some more hours went by and the three conversed with each other the whole time, only occasionally having moments of silence.
Finally, a spec of land came into view in the distance. Katie squinted. "Guys, I think I see one of the islands."
