Danielle's P.O.V
Dr.Tuckerman walked into the room.
"Great to see your awake honey, how do you feel?"
"Good, just kind of like a bowling ball was dropped on my head." I let out a laugh. Dr. Tuckerman took notes on his clipboard.
"Listen, your mother Mrs.Fields has went into a coma...we are keeping an eye on her. The overdose of pills slowed down her-"

I didn't even listen. A coma! How could that be? My life just felt like it was getting worse.
"But you should stay overnight tonight and then I will release you in the morning."
"What time is it?"
"About 7:30." How long had I been here? How long had everyone waited? Did I go back to sleep?
"Do you know if my friend Grayson is still out there?"
"Right here." Gray said and walked in. He looked tired. Dr.Tuckerman walked out.
"Did I fall back asleep?" I felt so bad he had been here the whole day.
"Yes you did, my mom and Ethan are at home right now getting their stuff and ordering dinner to bring back here, they let me stay. I'm staying in here with you tonight. So move over." He came into the hospital bed with me. I had a gown on and the back was open. Great. I leaned over on my side and put my head on his chest.
"Gray?"
"Yes?"
"So Kyle-"
"You don't have to tell me or have any decision right now if you don't want to."
"No I do, I let him go. I need a little bit of time though. But Gray."
"You don't have to say anything." He looked down at me. He lifted my chin and kissed me softly, and I kissed him back. It felt so good kissing him, it made me feel complete again. I pulled away.
"I think that's all my body can handle right now." I giggled while he played with my hair.
"Take as much time as you need Danielle."
"I'm worried about my mom."
"As soon as your cleared, my mom said you're going to stay with us the next few nights after you're released tomorrow. She knows I like you, she said you could stay in my room with me as long as there isn't 'funny business.'" I giggled a little. "But I'll keep you company." He smiled at me. "Does that sound okay?"
"That's exactly what I need." And I needed my mom to be out of this coma.
Waking up I expected Grayson to be next to me but he wasn't. I rubbed my eyes and felt so much pain in the back of my head because of the way I slept. God I was tired...what time is it? I looked up at the clock on the wall but the numbers seemed blurry and I gained focus. 10:30.
"Hey sleepyhead" Grayson walked in and smiled.
"I slept for that long?" I smiled at him shocked.
"Yeah, Doctor said as soon as you woke up he could release you. Wanna go out for breakfast and come back later for your mom?" Oh right, my mom was in a coma. I was so worried about her. Why'd she take those pills? How could I not know? Why didn't I do something when she seemed off the other night? Was I too focused on myself? Is this my fault? Did she realize I've been fake smiling for her? Oh my god. I hope she survives this, or else I will have no one left.
"Yeah, I just wanna stop in my moms room first." I got up out of bed and walked over to my moms room, room 305. She looked beautiful but also so pale and frigid.
"Hey mom" I said walking over next to her bed and sitting down. I grabbed her hand.
"I know you can't see me but I've heard when people are in a coma they can still hear me. Well please make sure you listen up, okay?" I was waiting for a response when I realized I wasn't going to get one. I took a deep breath. Here goes the truth.
"Mom, I know me and you have been both holding it together piece by piece trying to fix this hole we have in our family since dad left. We have both been fake smiling. But you need to wake up, to realize that you still have me. You always will have me to call, even when dad left I stayed. I don't blame you for what you did to yourself, but I feel ashamed for not noticing the pain you have been going through. When you wake up lets talk. I think it's time we showed our real feelings." I kissed her forehead and walked out.
