At Garroth's House

Zane sat rigid on his brothers couch. Garroth sat next to him, his brows furrowed.

"So are you gonna tell me why you're here for the night or...?" He questioned. Zane didn't look at him.

"Are you gonna tell me why you didn't tell me about Travis?" Garroth said, his voice filled with hurt. His brother stood up abruptly, startling him.

"Shut up," Zane hissed through clenched teeth. Garroth scowled.

"Fine, be that way. You're sleeping in the basement with Travis, since you just love to have your privacy." He sneered, walking off to the kitchen.

Zane sat back down slowly, listening to Garroth talk to Laurance about something stupid, probably.

He sat staring at the floor until he was sure that Garroth and Laurance had left.

Zane knew where Travis slept, so he headed down to the basement to get settled in for the night, unless Travis came over with his keys.

Pulling a few blankets off of his boyfriends bed, he made a small nest of softness to sleep on. Zane noticed something glint when he picked up a pillow...

It was Travis' diary.

Zane immediately picked up the rhinestone covered book in shock. He didn't know Travis had a diary...!

In cursive handwriting on the front, it read, "My Diary" in a cute purple pen.

Zane whistled lowly and debated whether or not to read it. On one hand, he wanted to respect Travis' privacy, and on the other...

He was just plain curious.

Zane scowled at himself and tossed the book aside, not wanting to go behind his own boyfriends back like that.

Making himself comfortable in the pile of blankets, his eyelids grew heavy.

Zane peacefully fell asleep.

The Nightmare

Zane woke up, sore and feeling stiff. He blinked several times to clear the cloudiness in his eyes.

Zane looked around to find himself in a small, dark room, with white walls and a white floor. This room almost reminded him of a hospital.

Zane tried to move his hands to get up from the bench he was sitting on, but his stomach lurched when he felt himself pulling on cuffs.

He was stuck on the bench, but why? Who put him there?

Zane heard a clicking sound and looked up slowly. Above him, there was a door with a golden doorknob. He wondered why it was on the ceiling?

Then he realized. The door clicked again, the hinges groaned...

The door burst open, water spilling into the room and over Zane. He tried to scream but his voice was, quite literally, drowned out by the water crashing down on his head.

The room was filling up quickly, already at Zane's waist. He tried to scream again with no luck.

He felt someone grab his shoulders...

Zane's mouth was filled with water and when he gasped, it filled his lungs and he choked on it, coughing violently. The water was at his chest.

He shook with terror and shock.

Well, actually... Travis shook him with terror and shock. Zane was screaming in his sleep.

Travis' trip home

Travis waved bye at the girls and shut the front door quietly. There was no point staying, so he decided to go home.

He walked quickly, because it was dark out and that made Travis anxious.

Looking around constantly and pausing under street lights were a bad habit of his.

Upon returning to his house, he noticed the lights were on and the door opened, unlocked.

Garroth looked up from his seat at the kitchen stool. He seemed tired and sad, but Travis knew better than to ask.

Garroth never told people his problems, so if he stayed like that for more than a few days Travis could always count on Laurence to tell him how to make Garroth feel better.

"Zane's in the basement," he spoke a bit harshly, then immediately looked away, ashamed. "We had a fight."

Travis nodded briskly when he heard something strange. It was like somebody was thrashing around?

Then he heard Zane scream. It was an awful, bloodcurdling cry for help. Garroth snapped out of his daze and stared at the entrance to the basement.

What just happened?

Before he even stood up, Travis was sprinting to the stairs and calling out to Zane if he was alright.

Garroth followed behind him, and Zane screamed again.

Travis spotted him next to his bed, blankets thrown aside in a panic. He knew that Zane had nightmares, but he's never screamed before...!

Travis shook him with all of his might. Garroth ran up and leaned over his shoulder, shouting at Zane to wake up and that everything was okay.

By this point, Laurence was bounding down the stairs to investigate the ruckus.

Zane tossed and turned and... woke up.

Blinking away tears, he gasped for breath, latching onto Travis for support.

"Wh-what in Irene's name just happened...?"

(So yeah! Zane has awful nightmares and the only one who can calm him down is Travis. This is actually important to this story so just... Keep that in mind I guess? Also, who knew Travis had a diary? Heh heh heh...)
