So the sleepover had been a bust.
After Zane and Travis had left, both of them upset one way or another, the house was dead quiet.
All accept the muffled sobs coming from Aphmau's room.
She felt awful. Distugsting. A terrible friend and person. Katelyn sat next to Kawaii-Chan, quiet with silent sorrow for the younger girl in her room.
Kawaii-Chan spoke softly, "Maybe we can go check on her again?" Katelyn shrugged, a pathetic thing, with her shoulders immediately slumping.
The two quietly crept up the stairs, hesitating at Aphnau's door before Kawaii-Chan stuck out a shaking hand and knocked three times.
No answer, just a small sniff and creaking of a bed.
"Aphmau Senpai?" KC called, voice barely above a whisper. Her hands were on the doorknob, Katelyn right behind her. "We're coming in."
"Wait-" but before Aphmau was finished, the door was opened to reveal a depressing sight.
Aphmau was sitting on her bed, feet tucked underneath her petite body, hair sticking to her face glued there by tears. Her eyes and nose were red from crying and her hands gripped the sheets, shaking slightly.
She looked as pathetic as she felt.
"Aph..." Katelyn froze at the shocking state of her best friend, someone who was always so cheery had been turned into the saddest person in the world.
Kawaii-Chan's stomach twisted, her eyes burning from tears that broke the barrier of her lower eyelid and rolled slowly down her cheeks.
Aphmau sniffled and croaked out, "I'm a bad friend, aren't I?"
Katelyn lowered herself onto the bed, pulling Aph forwards and wrapping her in her arms, stroking her hair soothingly, as a mother would do to a child.
"No, you're not a bad friend. Everyone makes mistakes. It's okay," Katelyn said, letting Kawaii-Chan into the hug.
"Oh, Aphmau Senpai! You're the most wonderful person! Kawaii-Chan can't bare to see you this way..." KC sobbed, clutching on to the other girls. Aph laughed and pulled them right against her.
"I'm sorry for scaring you guys. This means a lot," she said, biting her lip and flashing a smile.
"We wouldn't abandon you for the world," Katelyn replied, tears now in her eyes as well.
Weird to think that while these three were having a heartfelt moment, Zane was screaming in his sleep back at Garroth's place.
Funny how things work out.
(I got a sudden burst of energy for no real reason??? Hope you enjoyed, and sorry for another short chapter!)
