Chapter two

Heil Corps woke up with a bolt. She remembered what happened earlier and that she collapsed. She look around and found out she’s in her bedroom. It was dark outside so she guessed it was midnight. She tried to remember what exactly happened why she collapsed, she remembered herself being hungry and tired. At that moment, her stomach growl giving the sign that she needs to eat. She did not have her lunch because that was the time that she was lost.

She remembered the stray vampire that tried to bite her and unconciously put her hands on her neck and touched something smooth. She tried to look at it but It was a choker so it was like she was trying to look at her chest. She gave up and looked at her full body sized mirror and saw a black colored choker with a small green rose on the middle. It was so pretty. It matched her blue green hair and made the colors of her eyes stand out more. She was so fascinated with it that she stood there, looking at it for almost five minutes.

‘Maybe, momma put it on me when I was still sleeping. I should thank her!’ she thought. She opened the door and stopped because she heard somebody talking. It was coming from the livingroom so she silenlty tiptoed there and stopped, hiding and listened to the conversation silently. It was her hobby to eavesdrop to people because she always want to hear informations. She was simply a bright child.

“What should we do? I thought I lost her earlier! I was so scared, Gabriel!” she heard her mom said. She almost forgot about Gabriel. She almost forgot that he saved her from the stray scary vampire. ‘I should also thank him for saving me!’

“Lhia, she’s already here, by your side! Don’t worry too much; they will not be able to catch her because they don’t even know she’s alive! It’s impossible. Earlier was the past, you should move on. She’s protected here.” She heard Gabriel replied her mother.

They really seemed like they have a very close relationship, like they know each other already for a very long time. She dared to peek and saw her mother sitting, hands on her face and Gabriel in front of her, standing and his hand on her shoulder. Her mother seems to be crying.

Heil was on the verge of crying. ‘Is she crying because I got lost and she was sad that I may have ran away? But I’m already here! She shouldn’t be crying!’ A tear escaped her eye and wipe it with her wrist. She sniffed and ran towards her mother. Her mother was surprised but Gabriel did not react as if he already know Heil was there all along.

“Heil---”

“Momma! Don’t cry! Heil don’t like Momma crying!” Heil cried. She was horribly crying too. She hugged her mother and stayed like that, crying.

“Heil. Momma is not crying. Look!” Lhia smiled at her crying daughter. “It’s alright, don’t cry.”

“But momma! I saw you crying! Why are you sad? Is it because Heil got lost and did not came back for dinner?”Heil cried. She don’t want to see her mother crying because she herself becomes sad and eventually starts to cry.

Her mother looked at Gabriel for help and Gabriel happily helped. He touched Heil shoulder and Heil look at him and He smiled at her. Heil stopped sniffing and tears stopped flowing from her eyes.

“Heil, it’s okay. Don’t cry. You know, your momma will be sad if you cry.” Gabriel warned her. ”Do you want to eat? Your momma told me, you normally collapse when you get hungry and tired.”

Heil nodded. Why can’t she speak normally around him? Earlier, she was able to speak with him like she normally do but it was like, she get all nervous. As a child, what she feels now are all new to her. She’s still an innocent child. She remembered the choker and smiled at her mother, all sadness and worriness gone from her face.

“Momma! Thank you for this choker you gave to me! It is so pretty!” she pointed the beautiful choker.

Her mother raised her eyebrows and said, “Choker? What choker?”

Heil was confused. Does that means her mother did not gave it to her? “Momma. This choker with a green rose on the middle! Look!”

Her mother was silent for a moment and looked at Gabriel. “Oh that!  Your welcome Heil, now, go to the kitchen and we will follow you, okay? ”

Heil nodded and went to the kitchen. Gabriel was thinking deeply, it made him look more stunning. Her mother was looking worried, “What was that? What choker was she talking about?”

“I don’t know, Lhia. This is the first time I heard of a young Vampire seeing other things other Vampires don’t.” Gabriel responded taking a seat in front of her mother.”Where do you think the choker came from?”

Lhia shook her head, “She’s been sleeping the entire time since you brought her here with no concious. It’s impossible that someone slipped and put it on her neck without us noticing. Also, this house is full of spells that block other unknown people here, Vampires or mortals.”

“Heil, should not know that the choker was not from you, it will only confuse her. It’s better to stay this as a secret. ”

“I agree, that would be for the best.”

Meanwhile, Heil was waiting patiently at the kitchen. She was leaning on the table and looking at the moon outside the window, caressing the choker on her neck. ‘What would it feel like to be the moon?’ she thought. Her stomach grumbled loudly. She sighed, “Why are they taking so long? I’m hungry.”

She was really hungry that she tried to take her mind away from the delicious taste of fresh blood. She tried counting one to ten but it turned out she was counting one to ten drops of blood. Her mother does not want her to rummaged inside the refrigerator and she don’t know why but she obliged.

‘Ah! I forgot to say thank you to Gabriel for saving me!’ she remembered. She went to the door but the doorknob won’t open. She pulled the doorknob with all her might but it was no use, she was locked inside. She considered yelling for her mother but a loud CRAAAASH sound outside interrupted her.
