Eight Years Later...

Ezra's P.O.V

I am now 15 years old and ever since I was seven, I was silent. I didn't talk to anyone and worked harder than usual. The camp has gotten smaller over the years and there is probably only thirty slaves left. That didn't make this place as depressing and horrible than ever.  The reason the numbers are less are because my parents. When they talked back to their master's, lots of other slaves were inspired to do the same and were either sent away or killed.

"Keep moving!" My master yells in my ear as he snaps the wipe on the ground. I flinched and tried to push my last crate for today. It wasn't levitating cause they just love making things hard on us. Once I was finished, I was sent back to my cell, where I would eat my little meal. It wasn't the greatest plate but it was something at least. So I stuffed my face with whatever this mashed food was.

My master left me in disgust and I ate a bit slower so I wouldn't choke. Once I was done, I set the plate aside and pulled my legs to my chest. I stared out my cell to the one across from me. It was empty ever since that boy mysteriously disappeared. I didn't know who he was or what happened to him. Did he get moved? Was he killed? Did he escape? Was he sent to the punishment room and just left there? The possibilities were endless of what happened to him.

I heard a buzzard down the hall and all the cell doors opened. Time to go back to work. If I stayed in the cell, I would be sent to the punishment room and get no food for the rest of the night. All of the slaves went to a closet full of pick axes that have been worn down over the years. I'm surprised that they didn't break yet.

We all grabbed one and were sent to a tunnel to dig for minerals. No one has found a single mineral for ten years, I don't think we would ever find another one ever again but if one of us did, then they can get something special to eat for the next meal.

We all worked out backs off everyday for the meal and also, cause we don't have a choice. At the end of the day, my back hurts and I have blisters on my hands. We put the pick axes away and go back to our cells to eat, then go to bed. Once I get back, I eat my meal then curl up on the pillows and fall asleep. I knew that I was going to have another long and hard day tomorrow.

I'm in my cell and watch as my parents were dragged off. My eyes widen in shock and I was about to go help them. Then I felt something holding me back. I looked over my shoulder to see my master giving me a cold stare. "You're coming with me to the punishment room," he said sternly and a dragged me to the horror house.

I never been in the punishment room before and I didn't want to now. What did I do wrong that I had to be sent here? I always follow what they tell me. I was lead down into a creepy hallway made entirely out of cold hard stone. My master pushed and shoved me down the hall until we reached the door "Ezra!" I hear my parents shout from the inside of the room. The rusty, old metal door creaked open to reveal pitch black.

My master shoved me inside and locked the door behind us. A single torch was lit and below it was my parents chained to the wall barely alive. They had gashes, cuts and whip marks and knives that were still impaled in their skin. "Ezra, g-get out of h-here," mom said. I felt my eyes water and burn then tears fell down my face. "Go before you end up like us, please son please," my father cried.

I shook my head no and was about to go over to them but my master grabbed me again. "You need to be punished," he said and I looked over my shoulder to see him raise his whip up. "EZRA!" I hear my parents yell as I see the whip being brought down. The last thing I hear was me screaming.

I shot up covered in sweat shaking from that horrible nightmare. I let out a couple of soft sobs before wiping my tears away and sat criss crossed on my pillows taking deep shaky breaths in and out. That was the worse nightmare I had ever since they left...

I shook the thought out of my head and jumped when I heard something slid into my cell. "Eat up, lothrat," a guard said and laughed walking away. I forced myself to not roll my eyes and crawled over to the plate and started to eat. They weren't going to give me much time to eat. A while later, another guard come and gives me a cup of water.

I drink all of it cause I didn't get any yesterday. After I'm done, I set the plate aside and wait for them to open the door to make us work. "Let me go," I heard a thick accent coming down the hall. I looked down the hall and saw the guards dragging a Twi'lek woman. "Shut up," the guard said, "Look lothrat, you have a new cell buddy across from you."

They locked the green Twi'lek in the cell across from mine and she glares at the guards from the other side of the cell. "Maybe she can entertain you or give you dancing lessons," a guard joked. She must be a dancing slave, I guess she is wearing her dancing outfit. The green woman gripped the bars of her cell and glared at the guards.

"She is pretty and feisty," the guard complemented. The Twi'lek growled then said in her accent, "I don't need your petty little comments." I saw a guard slither an arm into the cell without the Twi'lek knowing and touched her hip. The green woman immediately backed away from the two men who laughed.

"See you later princess," a guard said and they both left. Was she a princess? "I'm not a princess!" She yelled. I guess the guards were teasing her. She looked over at my with emerald green eyes. Then she shockingly smiled and waved at me. I raised an eyebrow and waved back. Then I heard footsteps walking down the hall. I hope it wasn't those stupid guards again.

No, it was worse. It was my master. "So you are my new slave," he said in his deep voice. "Yes sir," she said and looked at the ground like she was helpless. I heard the buzzard go off meaning that it was time to work. The cell doors opened and all the slaves walked to their jobs. I walked out of my cell only to have a hand grip my shoulder.

"You see this here," my master said pointing at me. I looked at the green woman in fear and she gave me a look of sorrow. "This is what you are going to be," he said, "a worthless piece of nothing that does dirty work." My master shoved me away and yelled, "Get back to work!" I ran off to my first chore on my list. Pushing crates. I feel bad for the Twi'lek cause my master was the worst of all the others here in this place. I just hope I don't screw something up and they would have to take it out on her.

Then it would be all my fault.
