LUCIAN

It wasn't in my powers to stop time, it was something reserved for no one. Life had no stopping to it, every second that ticked by was made out of billions upon billions of decisions - each one spinning a new web of the future.

There was nothing I could do as I watched the truck hit Elizabeth de Baptiste. And then the world sped up.

Screams and shouts around me erupted as people rushed towards the scene. The driver - a stick figure of a man with a face so pale it resembled a sheet - stepped out on shaking legs to examine the damage he had done and fell to his knees at the sight.

The truck had hit her straight on, her neck had broken and pale lifeless blue eyes gazed out on the strange faces above her. Blood flowed like a crimson lake around her head, creating a bloody halo that dyed her caramel hair to a sickly red.

It was then that something appeared, something glowing, flying straight out of her mouth; her soul.

The thing I had bargained for, counted on so badly, was finally coming straight at me. Bobbing up and down as if it were on a happy breeze until it landed in my palm.

'You!' I turned around at the accusing shout to meet Maria's face, distraught and horrified. Red rimmed her blue eyes and tears had already dried upon her cheeks, 'You did this!'

Despite the turmoil in my mind, my very nature made my voice stay cold and calm, 'The truck did this'.

'You can still undo this,' she started, ignoring my words as her voice trembled, 'You have six days to return it to her - the right way'.

Before I could answer, my body had already started to dissolve - He was calling me back.

The garden was calm - filled with luscious green grass and miniature trees that came up to one's shoulder. Under them, pixies flew, their bug like wings throwing shades of green and pink under the sunlight.

Marble benches strewn with drying leaves, a creature sat. It was a girl with short blonde hair and feral green eyes. She had the ears of a cat poking out from above her head and two tails that resembled that of a lion's. They flickered in the air, swatting at nearing pixies. She was naked but yet not at all, her body covered by something shining that resembled fine hair - keeping her modest despite her nudity.

At the moment, she was pawing at the shining light flickering up and down the marble bench to which she was chained by her neck to. The shimmer danced to and fro, as if wishing her to fall off her chair every time she pounced at it.

This silent game went on for a good many minutes before her left ear twitched and she looked up - squinting against the light at the second floor balcony.

Sitting on top of it with one leg outstretched and the other dangling alongside it, sat Lucian. The golden palm sized ball in his hand was the one making the light and upon realisation the girl creature sat up, snarled once before making a jump.

Her hands caught the vines that decorated his marble balcony and claws shot out abruptly from her fingertips, making her climb easier until she scrambled up on top of the balcony ledge and settled down opposite him, 'Must you tease me so, Master Lucian'.

Lucian shrugged, the loose white shirt he wore inching further down his bare shoulders. His black hair was still bed messy, an indication that he had stayed all day in bed - again.

'You've not been the same since you've returned,' the girl piped up again, her two tails flicking behind her. One, was tied with a red ribbon and it made a soft sound as it zoomed through the air.
