It was just a normal day, I had got up to take dawn to school mike was still asleep, but the day quickly took a turn for the worst.
I was driving when suddenly a driver swerved into my lane coming right at me, I swerved to miss and lost all control over the vehicle. We rolled into a ditch and I was bleeding bad.
I said weakly "dawn. Dawn!"
I was covered in glass and cut up pretty damn bad, my head was bleeding a good amount I knew it was a matter of time before I passed out, I looked behind me and my baby is sleeping motionless. The world starts to get blurry and a pass out.
*Point of view switch*
I was getting ready for work.
"Felicia is usually home by now, I wonder what the hold up is?"
I finish getting ready when suddenly my phone rings, it's an unknown number. Usually I wouldn't answer but for some reason I did.
"Hello?"
"Is this Mr. Arrigoni?"
"Yes, why?"
"We have some bad news, you wife and daughter were in a bad wreck about 20 mins ago, they are being sent to the hospital as we speak."
I didn't say anything I was speechless, a few tears began to run down my face.
"Thank you for calling.."
I dropped the phone and stood there staring into space.
"This isn't happening"
I got into the car and rushed to the hospital, I'm not allowed back. I ended up sitting in the waiting room for 3 hours. With no news, finally the doctor comes up.
"Doctor, how are they? Are they ok?."
"Well Felicia lost a great amount of blood and is cut up pretty bad, she also has a broken leg, but your daughter."
I didn't want to hear what he said next, but at this point I really didn't have much of a choice.
"She was....Killed on impact... I'm sorry, we tried to bring her back but we failed."
I was left just standing there. I started crying, a giant piece of me had died, I still had some hope though. I was finally allowed to go back and see my wife, she wasn't conscious and she looked in horrible shape. The nurse came in and handed me her wedding ring,
"We need you to hold on to these while she's here, if we need a MRI or x-ray we wouldn't want to lose these."
"Thank you"
I wasn't allowed to see dawn, they said she was in to bad of shape.
About an hour later they transferred her to a room upstairs, nurses would come in about every 20 mins to check on her, I wasn't able to sleep that night.
A few days had passed and they decided to take her out of her drug induced coma. They knew she was going to be in pain, but she was healed enough to be woke up. She cried a great amount when they told her about dawn, she slept a lot for the next couple days, her natural blonde hair was stained red, they couldn't shower her properly until the stitches on her head healed, I'm not going to lie I cried a lot, because I just lost one girl and I wasn't going to lose another. I would sit with her and hold her as close as I could before hurting her, sometimes I would hold her throughout the night while she slept. I knew she was hurting, I knew she didn't want to feel it anymore, but I made sure she knew I was there for her. After 3 more days they went in and did surgery on her leg, to reline her bone, I was so scared for her, I mean I had a reason to be. I've never felt so lost, the doctor took out her stitches and I helped her shower, it broke my heart when she would cry out in pain. I would her pick up and carry her back to the bed, I love her so much and I hate seeing her in pain. They talked about sending her home, but then they saw something they didn't before, Felicia had a bruise on her hip but it was getting bigger and bigger and they noticed she had a blown being nothing to bad, they said they could fix them so it wouldn't be to hard to fix. After about 2 hours in surgery they came and told me that all went well, they kept her for another 2 days then sent her home, things were hard at home because dawns stuff was everywhere and it was hard to look at.
